My wife and I booked a very last minute stay at this cottage for a cosy Autumn getaway and the hosts were very understanding. The cottage was lovely and the woodfire oven was a definite highlight of every evening. We loved being so close to Bury St. Edmunds and the local surroundings, which provided some beautiful walks. If you love animals, this place is also great as we loved meeting the pigs, the dogs and the emus.
Beautiful little place, spotlessly clean and well furnished and equipped. Beautiful setting with a field out the back with Emu’s and pigs. Plenty other animals out front including turkeys and geese. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Nice touch with welcome gifts in the fridge. Beautiful place for a couple wanting a little break.
Mallards is a lovely cottage in large grounds next to a Thatched cottage built in 1400's. It is not overlooked so is very private & has lovely walks on the doorstep. And there are emu's, pigs, geese ducks turkey's & chickens in the front garden. Thoroughly recommended.
Spotlessly clean, very comfortable and thoughfully presented property set in the grounds of the helpful owners beautiful house.Great location in a lovely small village with a nice walk to the local pub. Handy for Bury St Edmunds and further afield to the coast too. We were charmed by the antics of the resident ducks, geese and turkeys as they went about their business and of course enjoyed morning coffee and sundowner or two in the meadow 'pod' while watching the emus.
Mallards is a lovely detached house in a quiet rural location. Ian was very welcoming and friendly and we loved the setting and animals. Inside there is everything you need, extremely comfy bed and more. We appreciated the thoughtful touches and would highly recommend staying here.
Perfect getaway for two in beautiful rural setting. Cottage immaculate. Well equipped. Owner lives next door. Very friendly. Nothing too much trouble. His collection of poultry and geese provided endless amusement and entertainment. Hope to visit again soon.
Absolutely fantastic accommodation and the owners were brilliant, helpful and friendly we were made so welcome. Very animal friendly!
Mallards is a beautiful place to stay. Extremely comfortable and perfect for enjoying the wonderful Suffolk countryside. We thoroughly enjoyed the property and surroundings and would definitely recommend it.
Mallards is a lovely property. Beautifully furnished and equipped and impeccably clean. The hosts could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The birds and animals on the property are a delight. Great location with stunning countryside all around.
A little gem. Lovely accomodation set in a peaceful location with plenty of walks to explore and wildlife to see (Turkeys, Donkeys, EMU'S!!). Would definitely recommend.
I can honestly say that Mallards was the cleanest accommodation, bar none, that I have ever stayed in. Spotless. The accommodation was compact but but didn't feel cramped at all - ideal for a couple. It had all the comforts of modern living (heating control in each room, underfloor heating downstairs, Wi-Fi, TV, combination oven and large shower) but with a traditional, cosy feel. It was warm and well appointed, with everything we needed during our stay. Very reasonably priced compared to other accommodation in the area, so good value for money, and the welcome chocolates and drinks in the fridge were an unexpected and appreciated surprise. The weather really didn't allow us to make the most of the invitation to walk in the fields to the rear of the property and the surrounding area, but we loved watching the wide variety of animals through the windows! . The owner greeted us when we arrived and he was friendly and accommodating. All in all we had a very relaxing and pleasant stay and we would thoroughly recommend Mallards to others and would not hesitate to return if we head to Suffolk again.
Very comfortable and nicely presented property. Modern facilities in a lovely setting with open views.
Delightful, immaculate, comfy cottage in the lovely countryside south of Bury St Edmunds. The host Ian lives next door, and was very helpful in every way, providing plenty of local information. He keeps geese, chickens, turkeys, pigs and even emus, as well as 3 dogs – who make very interesting neighbours.
We had a wonderful stay at the Mallards which is delightful in every way. Our hosts were lovely and very accommodating. The cottage was spotless and we would highly recommend it to everyone.
The location is great for exploring wider Suffolk, we found the property very clean and comfortable. The animals around the property were a delight to watch.
