With a central location, nestled away just behind the High Street, The Maltings is a beautifully renovated Mews Style House in the heart of Southwold. Located moments from the High Street and Southwold’s excellent pubs, restaurants, and shops, The Maltings boasts beautiful architecture, set within Southwold’s conservation area. Bright and spacious, this large property offers flexible accommodation and is ideal for bringing family or friends together to enjoy a memorable self-catering stay.
A former Malting House – indicative of Southwold’s famous heritage as the home of Adnams brewery - this unusual 19th century brick and pantile Grade II listed holiday home is deceptively spacious and offers versatile accommodation for 8 guests (with the addition of sofa beds/futons should you be looking for space for a few extra guests). With high quality fixtures and furnishings throughout, The Maltings Yard offers the perfect fuse of contemporary living with charming features. The property has been thoughtfully converted, retaining many of its original features, including exposed beams and beautiful oak staircases; whilst also providing a contemporary and stylish home away from home.
This delightful property offers guests spacious accommodation set over two floors but in an unconventional way being a converted Maltings building. The unusual layout makes it a great option for two families looking to holiday together as the separate spaces offer a good level of privacy. On the ground floor the generous kitchen is fully equipped with all you need to whip up some home-cooked meals. Doors lead out onto the stone-paved courtyard enabling alfresco dining. A large open plan living/dining area on the first floor offers the perfect space to bring your party together to make a memorable stay. There are four bedrooms and three modern bath/shower rooms and one cloakroom. Unusually two of the bedrooms can be found on the ground floor and both have access to ground floor shower rooms. The vaulted open plan living/dining room and the cosy snug are both equipped with Smart TV’s enabling you to enjoy your favourite apps including Netflix, Disney+ and iPlayer. The private sun trap patio provides the perfect spot to relax with a drink and BBQ after a busy day exploring the beautiful Suffolk coastline.
Situated in the heart of the popular seaside town of Southwold, you are just a stone’s throw from the marketplace and the common, and just a short stroll from the lighthouse, the renowned sandy beach and quirky pier. You won’t be short of something to do here!

To give our cleaners enough time to complete the additional cleaning and sanitising that is currently needed to keep our guests safe, check-in and check-out times at the majority of our properties have been temporarily revised. The revised times for this property are reflected above.
The Maltings was extremely comfortable, spacey and well-located in the centre of Southwold, perfect for the wonderful bakery, beach and fish and chips! The house is really interesting and had everything that we needed. The common is about a minutes walk away, good if you have dogs and need a quick stretch. There is a courtyard which catches the sun and no garden but with the common and beach so close there are lots of places to sit and watch the world go by.
