Escape to the Suffolk countryside with the whole family, or as two couples, with a stay at this dog-friendly brick, flint and weatherboard barn conversion. One of three holiday properties on a working farm, it offers tranquility and space to relax and take stock, while still being super convenient for getting out and exploring Suffolk.

Make fun family memories staying at this beautiful refurbished barn that seamlessly marries characterful features and ultramodern comfort. The accommodation is all at ground level in this one, but there’s still a great feeling of space under the generous vaulted ceiling. The super-king-size bedroom (it can also be rearranged as a twin bedroom) is off down a corridor for privacy, along with the contemporary bathroom. Your outside space is to the front of the rural retreat, with a furnished terrace and gravelled courtyard area. There’s also private parking for two cars here.

The village of Barrow (1 mile) offers both a village shop and a pub, ideal for stocking up on treats or enjoying a drink or a meal out if you don’t fancy cooking. There’s lovely landscapes and walking opportunities surrounding the farm, so you can grab the dog leads or your bike and head out exploring. Lackford Lakes Nature Reserve offers wildlife galore amid varied terrain 6.5 miles away, while 9.5 miles brings you to Newton Park, complete with its traditional maze, arboretum and parkland. Bury St Edmunds (6.5 miles) is regarded as Suffolk’s foodie capital, but offers historic sights and indie shopping too.

This is a wonderfully quiet site, but still convenient for visiting much of Suffolk. The host was most helpful and friendly on the one occasion we needed to speak to him. The Willow pub nearby is recommended, and the local convenience store's long opening hours were much appreciated.
