Property code: OC-B42641

Relish a rural retreat in Suffolk solo, with your significant other or with a friend and up to two dogs. This superb flint barn conversion, part of a small complex with two other properties, is on a working farm. Take time out to enjoy this holiday home from home, slow down and recharge your batteries. But the great outdoors calls loud, too, with abundant walking and cycling around the area.

Walk into this impressive space and admire your surroundings – the internal living area complete with its vaulted ceiling, exposed beams both wooden (the old) and steel (the new). The reverse-level layout means that the mezzanine lounge overlooks the rest of the living space, under the vaulted ceiling with its exposed timbers. Downstairs, you’ll walk into the kitchen/diner, with the super-king-size bedroom off here. From the open-plan living area, French doors give onto a private terrace where you can dine al fresco or just enjoy a sundowner near the private parking for two cars.

The nearby village of Barrow has a very useful shop and no less than two pubs to frequent if you feel like an outing. Lackford Lakes Nature Reserve is 6.5 miles away, mixing up reedbeds, lakes, woodland and meadow. If you’re lucky, you might even spot kingfishers. Nowton park (9.5 miles) has an old-school maze, walking trails, a cycle trail and impressive arboretum. Something of a foodie haven nowadays, Bury St Edmunds (6.5 miles) is also steeped in history with medieval and Georgian architecture and the ruined Abbey of St Edmund. There’s plenty of independent shops, plus it prides itself on being a ‘dog-friendly town’! If you want a bigger urban place, then Newmarket is just 9 miles, while Cambridge and its colleges and museums is 24 miles away.
