Self-catering holiday homes in Clare

Browse our Clare holiday cottages and start planning your Suffolk holiday. Clare is a great destination for Suffolk breaks, whether you’re looking for a group holiday or a romantic break in a self-catering holiday cottage. Located just outside the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in between Ipswich and Cambridge, Clare is a medieval wool town that is famous for being the smallest in Suffolk. Set in the gorgeous countryside of West Suffolk's Upper Stour Valley, Clare is the perfect base for Suffolk holidays. Brimming with history, the town boasts over 130 listed buildings, a wool church and a Grade I-listed museum. Fans of lovely landscapes are in luck too, as there’s a 36-acre country park waiting to be explored; there’s even a Norman Castle and Victorian railway buildings to marvel at. Lovers of Constable Country will enjoy walking along the River Stour and taking in the scenery.

Continuing the countryside theme, there are six circular walks originating from Clare Castle Country Park where you can take in the beautiful views of Clare and its surroundings. The walks range from 2 to 7 miles and are considered dog friendly, although you will need to keep Rover on a lead at times. Heading further afield, the town of Bury St Edmunds is just 16 miles away and is great for shopping and self-guided trails. Thetford is 27 miles north and offers a lush forest where you can Go Ape.
