Aldeburgh and the surrounding area has inspired many authors and poets in the past but the most famous son of the town is Benjamin Britten, who founded the Aldeburgh Music Festival, which now has worldwide acclaim and is held every year in June at Snape Maltings. Fishermen still pull their colourful boats up on the shingle beach and sell fresh fish from the picturesque huts. The wide, mainly Georgian high street has many attractive buildings whilst the seafront properties all have commanding views of the beach and the North Sea. Boating is popular on the nearby Alde estuary where a large variety of yachts can be seen at summer weekends. Just three miles away from this location is the magical Suffolk coastal village of Thorpeness. Thorpeness was created in the 1920s by Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie, an architect, barrister and playwright. Amenities in Thorpeness itself include the Dolphin Inn pub; The Kitchen Cafe; Thorpeness Hotel and Country Club with tennis courts; a superb 18-hole golf course, extensive sports field and the Meare - a large shallow boating lake with tearooms nearby. There are miles of mainly sandy beaches to explore, as well as a myriad of gorgeous footpaths through forests, fields and across the heath.

The beds were very comfortable and had good bedding, The kitchen was well equipped and the location allowed for night sky viewing and totally silent nights!.
Very well-equipped and comfortable property in convenient location. A quiet, peaceful location, close to local amenities. Refurbished to a very high standard whilst maintaining the feel of a family home.
Perfect location for a big get together. Plenty of room to eat, drink & be merry and to relax in comfort.
A five star holiday home. Immaculate, comfortable and well-equipped. The huge garden was very much ejoyed by our dog and was a lovely area to sit out. Having the RSPB reserve just over the road was great, and it was possible to walk to Thorpeness and Aldeburgh via footpaths through the reserve. The bus stop just at the end of the drive was also very useful. All-in-all a great property and would highly recommend it.
Am immaculate holiday home. Ollie loved the garden as did we, and the weather was sunny if a little breezy. Would recommend the walk to Thorpeness & Aldeburgh via the RSPB Reserve across the road and Helmingham Hall, amazing gardens.
