Enjoy some family time on the beach in this ideally located cottage. You’ll be under 50 metres from the beautiful Shingle Street beach, a great spot for a morning dip or a romantic evening stroll. The property will easily house a small group, so get ready for an adventure.

The ground floor of the cottage is devoted to an open-plan living area which includes a kitchen, diner and lounge in one. It’s great for a family looking to spend time together, with two wood burners to make things extra cosy. The bathroom is also downstairs and has a shower over a bath. After a long day, head upstairs to the two bedrooms. There’s a twin and a double, both simply decorated and comfortable. Finally, take some time to sunbathe in the enclosed courtyard garden, perfect for dogs to sniff and children to play.

The beach is less than 50 metres away so you can visit whenever you choose. Go for a swim or walk along, listening to the waves and breathing the salty air. If you continue for 0.5 miles, you’ll come to a Martello Tower, one of a chain of 200-year-old fortifications that were built in the 19th century to defend the coast. If you’d like to see some spectacular wildlife, try Simpson’s Saltings (3 miles), a 60-acre salt marsh and nature reserve. Hollesley is the nearest spot for amenities, 2 miles from the property, or go to Melton (8 miles) for a station, cafe, pubs, spas and golf clubs.

  • 1 bathroom – bath with shower attachment and WC
  • Fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, washing machine, microwave
  • Wood burners – logs not provided

The cottage is set in a beautiful, peaceful place. Tim, the owner came to introduce himself and to offer suggestions for eating/ things to do. We enjoyed our stay at Shingle street. The cottage is quaint and comfortable. Worth noting the shower is hand held. The addition of local books was interesting, especially the one about the white shell path Read morewhich we enjoyed adding to. We would definitely visit again. Hide

The location is everything and the rustic nature of the accommodation works well. A great place from which to walk and cycle.

A wonderful weekend at this friendly cottage! We had a family holiday here 6 summers ago and it was lovely for us all to return - with teenagers this time! Number 6 doesn't change a bit, we love it. Shingle Street is so restful. Wilderness and walks on the doorstep - heard our first skylarks of the year too. (Thankyou for sharing your lovely cottagRead moree and providing short stays.) Hide

A wonderful cottage, very warm and cosy, walking straight on to the beach. The view from the bedroom alone is worth the money. The children loved it especially the shells and outdoor space. Of all the Suffolk secrets cottages I have visited, this is the best. It might not be grey and minimalist, but it has bags of character and is obviously loved.Read more The owner is charming and made us very welcome when he popped by. Hide

We had a brilliant time here. The location is beautiful, right on the beach and very peaceful. The sea views are great to wake up to. The cottage itself is comfortable and cosy. The bathroom is downstairs and was very cold, there is a heater in there that can be put on whilst you use the room which does make it more bearable! A wonderful retreat from the clang and drive of modern life. The simplicity of the cottage and there being no WIFi adds to the feeling of slowing down and living in a less hectic time. Once the fire is going it is so cosy ; we were there during a very cold spell in January. We left feeling relaxed and recharged. Will definitely return!

The location of this property is second to none opening out onto one of my favourite stretches of coastline. The cottage itself is slightly spartan with limited wifi (blessing and a curse!) but is great for a short break.
