Property code: OC-SLD

This fantastic property, situated in the centre of pretty Aldeburgh, is the perfect romantic retreat. Sleeping you both in a bright and airy double bedroom with a spacious open-plan living area, you’ll catch glimpses of the sea from this second-floor apartment. Wake up after a great night’s sleep, grab your morning coffee and head out to the main balcony, setting yourself up for the day with some fresh air and some sun.

The property, which sits above a shop on the high street, is filled with light thanks to large mullioned windows that run across the open-plan living area. Cook meals together in the stylish kitchen area and eat at the table looking across the rooftops towards the sea, or head out to the balcony to dine alfresco. After dinner, snuggle up on the sofa in the living area among calming neutral tones and soft lighting, enjoying a film on the TV before bed. The bedroom has a tranquil feel with carefully-selected furnishings and artwork; see if you can spot some stars on a clear night from the small balcony just off this room.

Take a stroll along Aldeburgh Beach (150 metres), stopping at a fish and chip shop or bakery on your way back. Nearby Thorpeness (2 miles) is also worth a visit; you’ll find mock-Tudor houses and an artificial lake that covers over 60,000 acres with islands and inlets. If you love browsing antiques, Snape Maltings (6 miles) has lots of unique shops and stalls to peruse. Don’t forget about popular Southwold (18 miles) too, where you’ll find more boutique shops along with cafes, restaurants and pubs to spend the afternoon in after walking along The Denes Beach. But if you’re looking for something more active, try stand-up paddleboarding or canoeing at Iken Canoe (7.5 miles).

Enjoyed position and having a parking space. Road noise could be an issue for some, we had the windows open as it was a heatwave while staying. Carrying a suitcase may again be difficult for people up several flights of stairs. Overall a lovely holiday.

Well situated with a decent view and a pleasant place to stay, stairs a bit of a faff when unloading and leaving, otherwise it was fine. The car parking space is helpful but is a bit tight spacewise when other vehicles are parked in there, not a lot of room for manouvre when reversing out.

The flat is 2 flights of stairs up, hard work with cases, so you need to be reasonably fit. Lovely sunny main room, lots of windows for the sea view.

I had a lovely solo weekend stay here. The location was absolutely the best thing for me - loved being able to look out at the moon coming up over the sea in the evening. And then being able to step outside directly onto the High Street for a stroll along the beach or a browse through the shops was excellent. I hope to be able to visit again. Its a great location with plenty of natural light. The property was quite cobwebby, however. I also wouldve expected some toiletries beyond a more than half-used bottle of Radox. I had to ask maintenance to visit as the cistern in the en suite gurgled for about 14 hours straight, keeping me awake. I was told someone would call me to arrange a conveRead morenient time to look at it but instead someone just turned up whilst I was having a nap. Hide

The apartment is very well and tastefully equipped and we found it very comfortable. There are two flights of stairs up to the flat, which means good exercise with your luggage!
