This cosy loft apartment in the pretty village of Badingham offers a delightfully quirky rural retreat for two, plus one canine companion. The first-floor property, set in a leafy lane, is a skilfully converted cart lodge, with bags of character allied to modern comforts. A handy community shop and cafe selling fresh vegetables and home-made cakes is just below the loft. There are more shops and eateries in the lively market town of Framlingham, just 4 miles away, while villages and towns on the beautiful Suffolk coast are within easy reach.

A flight of external steps leads to the open-plan apartment, where original features include an arched window, sloping ceilings and exposed wooden beams. Styled with flair, the interior houses a small sofa, a pretty cottage dining table, and a neat kitchen. A sumptuous king-size bed in a Victorian-style wrought iron frame enhances the distinctive charm of this holiday home, with a shower rom completing the layout. French doors from the living space led to an enclosed, private, balcony, with patio furniture.

Badingham’s dog-friendly pub is within 300 metres, and the village has a wealth of peaceful footpaths in the beautiful Alde valley, perfect for doggie walks alongside your four-legged friend. Pets on leads are welcome at Framlingham’s magnificent 12th century castle. Discover its long and colourful history and take the dramatic wall-walk for spectacular views over the countryside. The bustling, twice weekly market is a great place to snap up local produce and crafts. For a day at the seaside, head to charming Southwold (16.5 miles), with its sandy beach, Edwardian pier and landmark lighthouse. Aldeburgh (15.5 miles) is renowned for its cultural vibe and has galleries, colourful period houses overlooking the shingle beach and some of the best fish and chips around.

A lovely, surprisingly spacious, quirky, well equipped property in a quiet but easily accessible location to all the tourist attractions. Had a great stay.

The loft is a very comfortable, well equipped accommodation and is in a great location for visiting the surrounding area. Theres an excellent pub about half a mile away and a pop up tea room under the loft on a Wednesday and Thursday morning, which sells very tasty, homemade sausage rolls and cakes. Be aware of the sloping ceiling above the bed andRead more near the tv. Although the accommodation is small, it is very well suited for two and is good value for money. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hide

Really well thought out and laid out accommodation, with everything that you might need and more. Amazing coffee and a milk left in the fridge for us. Really lovely owner.
