This chic cottage 100 metres from the beach in Southwold is a peaceful retreat for a couple or a single traveller. You’ll be excellently placed to discover the delights of this quintessential seaside resort, with the vibrant pier, working lighthouse and colourful beach huts all within half a mile. Spend satisfying days taking the dog on pretty River Blyth estuary (1 mile) on foot, followed by evenings relaxing in your peaceful abode, which is bursting with rustic charm.

Lavishly decorated in a charming French style and with vintage-style furniture, this charming home makes you feel right at home. The spacious living room has impressive exposed beams and a painted brick decorative fireplace, and sofas where you can kick back in the evenings. In the wood-panelled kitchen/diner, cook up yummy meals to be enjoyed at the sweet round dining table. When it’s time to retire for the night, you’ll find a classy double bedroom upstairs. Outside, a shared courtyard with table and chairs creates a tranquil spot for morning coffee before heading out for the day.

You’ll be in a convenient location 150 metres from Southwold’s bustling high street, where you can while away a morning wandering around the independent shops before popping in for a refreshing coffee. Further afield, head toward the river and board the ferry over to Walberswick, a sweet coastal village famous for its nature walks and rich wildlife of deer, otters, seals and seabirds. The seaside resorts of Thorpeness (15.5 miles) and Aldeburgh (16.5 miles) are both well worth the trip, and since this entire area is part of the Suffolk Coast and Heath AONB, the scenery of coastal dunes, shingle beaches and scenic marshland is bound to impress.

Location is perfect. Parking very useful. Spacious and comfortable. Downside is that the kitchen of adjacent property is over the sitting room of this property.

Cottage is very well located and the garage parking is a real bonus. The property is showing signs of wear & tear and is a little dated.

The best thing about this cottage is its central location. It is spacious and comfortable on the inside but tired looking on the exterior. Having a garage to park in was useful but note that it is in a narrow lane and the garage itself is narrow so accessing it in a large car would be tricky.

A lovely centrally located cottage with a garage is a good thing to have in an area with very limited parking facilities.

The property is ideally located, close to beach and shops. It was very clean and nicely decorated. The garage was very useful, although the door is a bit difficult and really needs some attention. We did need to call out the maintenance team for a flood in the hallway due to a blocked drain, but they came out promptly with towels to dry it up. The Read moreoperative was very helpful as I mentioned we had no corkscrew (we brought wine with us) and he went and bought one for the us/the cottage. The only disappointment was we had no welcome pack which was mentioned in the cottage details and commented on by previous people on how appreciative they were of it! Hide

In the main, we were happy to have stayed at Rest Cottage with a few exceptions. First, and most important, the hot water was scalding hot. Not just hot, but scalding. There were no warning signs. It is beyond dangerous and needs urgent action. No radio in the kitchen seemed a bit mean to us. And finally, the owner might consider taking the toasterRead more along to The Antiques Roadshow. Joking apart, please get the hot water fixed or signposted. It's an accident waiting to happen. Thanks. Hide

Rest Cottage is ideally situated in Southwold, the bonus is it has a parking space/garage. Its quirky in layout with the bathroom on the ground floor but there is a toilet a few steps down from the bedroom which is beautifully large.with lots of hanging/ drawer space. The towels are large and fluffy. The kitchen is well equipped with fridge freeRead morezer and dishwasher. Lots of books available and some games especially a solitaire board. A smart tv would be nice. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return. Hide

Ideally situated, close to the seaside, the shops and inland walks. Lots of space for two people and very comfortable. Very helpful to have a garage for parking the car, though the access is quite tight. Really appreciated the welcome 'goodie bag'.
