Indulge your love of the quiet life with a stay at this characterful Suffolk cottage. Suffolk’s famous for its pretty pink cottages, and this pet-friendly countryside abode is a fine example. Located on a quiet lane with a quintessentially English pub on the doorstep, it’s the ideal retreat for families and friends, with the beamed ceiling and wood burner in its lounge setting the scene for companionable at-home time together. A cloakroom completes the convenience of the ground floor, complemented by a traditionally styled family bathroom on the first floor. On this upper level, there are three welcoming bedrooms – one a king-size with its own en-suite shower room, and the others each with twin beds. The private patio to the rear of the property has seasonal planting and outdoor furniture; enjoy sunshine and snacks as the dogs sniff the fresh country air – up to two are welcome!

Shottisham is on the Bawdsey Peninsula, about 3 miles from the coast at Shingle Street and 4 miles from historic Sutton Hoo on the bank of the River Deben. Further afield, Orford (15 miles) is a coastal village with a fascinating 12th-century castle keep – once crucial to the defence of the English coast – and Aldeburgh (18 miles) is an upmarket seaside town with stylish boutiques, cafes and galleries.

The Knoll is a quaint & quirky cottage with a lovely warm cozy feel to it, in the centre of Shottisham, a quiet village with friendly residents and a welcoming pub. A great location for exploring this part of Suffolk. The cottage is well equipped and has adequate off road parking - we were able to fit our Ford Transit on the parking area without iRead moressue. There are plenty of places to walk dogs nearby, this is necessary as the garden is small and not secure for dogs. The mobile phone signal is poor but the property does have Wifi - just remember to screen shot the keycode before you arrive, something we failed to do and so we had to walk up the lane opposite until we found a signal. Fantastic location for exploring Suffolk in an attractive village with lots of period properties. Lovely local pub. Quiet at night. Drive perfectly adequate for a Fiesta. Yes, the twin rooms have low ceilings so possibly an issue for taller adults but we were only a party of four so only one adult person twin room. Would be fine for kids. The cottage was quiet and quaint as is the village itself. It was perfect for our purposes, though could have been cleaner as cobwebs and dust were plentiful and made allergies worse. The location was ideal for my work at Sutton Hoo for the week - only an 8-10 minute drive. The driveway is most difficult to pull into, best for a compact car. We had a wonderful week in this house. It is set in a delightful location, a very tranquil village. Th pub just over the road serves food and is a nice quiet pub. A wonderful area full of lovely walks and close to various beaches, I would have no hesitation in recommending this place.

We rented the cottage to attend a wedding at nearby Woodhall Manor. Which was about a 5 minute drive away. The cottage is very well equipped and very comfortable and the location is great for discovering Suffolk. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, including my 93 year old mother and the wonderful weather made the holiday complete. Would definiRead moretely recommend the cottage. As I was booking the cottage from Germany, I was very pleased with the Original Cottages Portal and their attention to detail (emails) running up to the holiday. It made booking the property from outside the UK no problem. Hide
