Pour yourselves a glass of something cold and settle back to enjoy this sumptuous apartment in Aldeburgh. Sleeping just two guests, plus a canine companion, the impressive, first-floor retreat has something of a boutique hotel style about it. Some 650 metres from the sea and 0.5 miles from centre of town, the one-bedroom property makes an idyllic, romantic retreat for anyone wishing to spend time with their loved one in beautiful Suffolk.

Open the main door to the building and head upstairs to your private quarters. Wander inside to find a useful hall where you can kick off your walking boots or beach sandals and hang your outerwear. There is also a small desk here for anyone needing to catch up on a little work while they are away. At the heart of the apartment is an open-plan lounge/diner, with an impressive, elegant interior design. Watch TV, choose a classic laser disc movie to snuggle up in front of and enjoy magnificent, candle-lit dinners together at the table. The chic kitchen, which is equipped with everything you might need to help you rustle up these feasts, has Neff appliances and a coffee machine. When eyelids start to drop, amble through to the beautiful bedroom, with its four-poster double bed and en-suite bathroom. Take your morning coffee out into the shared lawned gardens on sunny days before heading off on your next adventure. There is parking here for one car.

Venture 6 miles from your base to spend time at Snape Maltings, with its famous concert hall and many retail and food outlets. Lace up your boots and hike 2 miles along the coast from Aldeburgh to Thorpeness, which has a unique history as an early 20th century holiday village. Visit Dunwich, 11 miles away, with its picturesque beach and heath.

  • 1 bedroom – 1 double

Overall disappointed. Too far to walk to town - had to drive in every day. Apartment not comfortable. Leather sofa not suitable as difficult to sit up. Bedroom duvet too hot in summer months. Some electrical equipment not working. Needs thorough check and deep clean by professional property maintenance company.

Good condition, 15 minute dog walk to the beach. The stairs up to the front door were not lit at night, which could have been a challenge, if we did not have a torch, but apart from that little issue, all was fine.
