Property code: OC-CHD

Close to the beach and with fantastic views over the marshes and sea, this welcoming period house is in a sought-after location within the unspoilt village of Dunwich. A beautifully decorated interior and a huge, enclosed garden make this an excellent choice for a family get-together or a holiday with friends, bringing three canine companions, too.

Generously sized rooms, brick flooring and exposed beams give this superb property heaps of character. The kitchen and adjoining utility room have all the facilities you’ll need for creating stress-free holiday meals, and the spacious dining room is a pleasure to eat in. Double doors lead to the gorgeous conservatory, which has comfortable seating and marsh views. On the ground floor there’s also an airy double bedroom and a separate bathroom. Via an open staircase, you’ll find the lounge on the first floor, with French doors that make the most of its marsh and sea views. This beautiful room has a vaulted ceiling, timber floor, TV and DVD. Three further bedrooms are on this floor: a king-size with an en-suite shower room, a twin and a single which has a pull-out option to create a twin. These latter two rooms share a family shower room. As for outside space, children and pets will appreciate the enormous garden, which has a decked area with dining furniture and a BBQ.

Dunwich was once a thriving medieval port but is now known as England’s ‘lost city’, and you can see the ruins of a medieval friary. It also has a pebble beach, a large nature reserve and a friendly pub that serves locally sourced food and even offers a special dog menu. For day trips, Southwold and Aldeburgh are both only 10 miles away.

  • 4 bedrooms – 1 double, 1 king-size, 1 twin, 1 single/twin
  • 3 bathrooms – 1 bathroom with WC, 1 en-suite shower room with WC, 1 shower room with WC

Lovely house, had a great holiday. We saw rabbits, pheasant, a sparrowhawk and lots of little birds in the garden. A relaxing place to come. The BBQ is literally on its last leg. Early hours Sunday a roof ridge tile fell from the apex narrowly missing one off the cars. As a holiday cottage, it is perfect. The equipment and facilities and the location. You would struggle to get a better cottage.

This is a lovely house which is very well equipped. It is literally just by the beach, which is a treat, one morning walk we were the only ones on the beach which was the most amazing experience. The local pub, The Ship, is brilliant, it's just up the road and the Sunday Roast was delicious. There is a wealth of footpaths which meant we didn't needRead more to use the car very much which was great. If you're bringing your dog you need to be aware that the bottom fence isn't secure and we had to use a lead on our dog (he is a busy Spaniel so a steady dog may be ok). I have made the owners aware and hopefully they will be able to get that sorted out as it's the only thing that would prevent us coming back for another holiday. Hide

Most importantly if you have dogs the garden is genuinely secure .My spaniel cross is an escape artist and even she couldn't get out which made for a relaxing holiday.
