Life’s a beach at this delightful detached cottage as it’s only around 100 metres from the long stretch of sand and shingle at Kessingland. Sleeping four guests, it offers a fantastic seaside base for families seeking coast and country adventures around Suffolk and over the border in Norfolk. On warm days, it feels good to throw open the back door to let the fresh sea breeze drift through the house as you casually flit between indoors and out.

Stylish yet homely, this red-brick cottage has a light and airy open-plan living space, decorated with soft hues with subtle ocean-inspired touches. Sink into the soft seating in the lounge and flick through the Smart TV for something to watch in between adventures. When stomachs rumble, cook up a seaside feast in the sleek kitchen or fire up the BBQ for al fresco grill-ups on the garden patio. This sun-soaked outdoor space also features an enclosed lawn for garden games and a table and chairs for morning coffees and evening tipples when the kids are tucked up in bed. Upstairs, you’ll find a family bathroom and two bedrooms: a master double and a cosy twin suitable for children.

Away from the beach, two popular family attractions are nearby. At Africa Alive (1.5 miles), you can encounter more than 300 African animals, from lemurs and lions to an endangered aye-aye, while Pleasurewood Hills Family Theme Park (9 miles) has thrilling rides and live animal displays. If gentler outdoor pursuits are more your thing, the surrounding area has a wealth of walking, cycling and boating activities to inspire you. Oulton Broad (7.5 miles) is your gateway to the Broads National Park, where you can join River Waveney excursions or explore the waterways at your own pace.

We had a lovely stay at Crick Cottage, the house was fantastic, well prepared and met all our needs. Although the weather was very hot the house remained cool which was great for our dogs in the midday heat. There are some great books in the cottage which I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Thank you so much.

The cottage was lovely and homely. Very well looked after and decorated beautifully. A nice welcome package awaited us. The cottage was in a good location, just a short walk to the beach and to the pub, chippy and a restaurant. The cafe is worth a definite visit, we highly recommend the coffee and cakes. The owner of the cottage was fantastic. ERead morexcellent communication and was very accommodating. We asked if there were any fans due to the hot weather and she provided 2 for us, which is above and beyond what you would expect. During hot weather, I recommend taking a fan or 2 with you. It is a very warm house! But anything you need, just ask and she will do her upmost to help. She is a lovely person. I would strongly recommend a stay in this cottage. We were able to make ourselves at home, using it as a base to travel out as well as having rest days. Hide
