Get away from it all in this rural retreat for two in the Suffolk countryside. The cottage is perfectly placed for exploring some of the region’s quaintest towns and villages, including Snape, Framlingham, and Saxmundham (all within 10 miles). You’ll also be within easy reach of the coast, including the seaside resort of Aldeburgh (7.5 miles). In the evenings, get cosy in the glow of the wood burner or spend time under the stars in the pretty garden.
The former cart lodge is arranged across one level and sits within the peaceful grounds of an old manor house. After a day of exploring, unwind in the lounge/diner under the characterful beamed ceiling. Watch a film on the Smart TV and, on a chilly evening, fire up the wood burner to create a cosy atmosphere. At the far end of the room is a dining table, set next to the window, and there is a separate kitchen with everything you need for a self-catering holiday. When it’s time for bed, retreat to the king-size bedroom which, again, has a beamed ceiling and is decorated in calming, neutral tones. A shower room completes the accommodation. Outside, an attractive, enclosed garden awaits with a bistro set for al fresco dining on balmy, summer nights.
The historic market town of Saxmundham is 3.5 miles away and has a bustling high street with independent shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants. It’s also a great place for picking up delicious produce for your supper, with a popular weekly market showcasing local goods. The heritage site at Snape Maltings (4 miles) makes a fantastic day out. As well as a plethora of high-end shops and restaurants to peruse, you’ll also find a concert hall, art galleries, and stunning walking trails through the surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
