Whisk your loved one away for a delightful weekend at this cosy Suffolk cottage and take your beloved four-legged friend as well. Nestled within the tranquil village of Whenhaston, the inviting one-bedroom retreat makes a charming and romantic base right on the edge of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With a lawned garden for your pet to race about in, while you relax in the sunshine, the cottage is 5.5 miles from the charming seaside village of Walberswick and 7 miles from colourful Southwold.

Let yourselves into the cottage, which has underfloor heating downstairs, and wander through to the kitchen/diner to unpack the fresh Suffolk provisions you have stocked up on at farm shops and rustle up a candle-lit dinner to enjoy together at the table. Afterwards, take a bottle of wine through to the lounge, where you can choose a book, play a game or find a good film on TV. There is also a WC downstairs. When you are ready to turn in for the night, climb the stairs up to the first floor to lay your heads in the king-size bedroom. There is also a family bathroom up here. Enjoy the garden to your hearts’ content. Dine out here on warm days and sip a glass of wine as the sun goes down. The garden has an access point and laundry room which is shared with a neighbouring cottage. Parking is on the street, subject to availability.

Follow riverside, marsh and heathland walks through the area of outstanding natural beauty. Shop and dine out in Southwold. The wonderful outdoor Theatre and restaurant Husk with its supper clubs are less than two miles away in nearby Thorington. Spend time in Dunwich, 5 miles away, and also on the Suffolk Heritage Coast. This quiet village, which was once a bustling medieval port that disappeared beneath the waves, has a lovely beach and picturesque heath.

A fabulously clean, comfortable and well appointed cottage. The bed is extremely comfortable and a good power shower. All the sheets, towels and soaps are excellent quality. Definitely the cleanest dog friendly cottage weve stayed in. The large garden is extremely secure with discreet wire fencing surrounding the whole of it. A great base for exploRead morering the Suffolk coast. There is also a pub at each end of the road, easily walkable, but will need a torch at night. We favoured The Queens Head, Blyford 0.7 miles. Great food and fantastic staff. The Star Inn didnt have a chef when we went, so no food. Parking is the only issue here. There is space for one car outside, but you will need to tuck it tight against the wall. However, there is a parking bay 25 meters further down the road. If you get a chance go to the Queens Head Inn at Bramfield. A 2.5 mile drive, but amazing. We will definitely book here again. Thankyou. Hide

We were very happy with the cottage overall and have booked again for next year. The actual cottage was excellent and the garden perfect for our two dogs to use, being very large and fully enclosed. In fact it was the best garden that they have ever had in a cottage. The location was perfect, with lots of very nice walks directly from the cottage, Read moreor within a short drive. Hide

Japonica cottage was a lovely place to stay for a relaxing break with our two dogs! The decorating was done to a high standard, every room was fresh and clean! The whole place was very clean, with lots of thought being given to making guests feel comfortable, and at home! Myself, my husband and our two large dogs had a lovely week there! The gaRead morerden was large enough for them to have a good run, without fear of them escaping! It was very central for visiting Southwold, Aldeburgh, and surrounding areas! Lots of places to eat, and, an Edwardian cinema in Leiston which is well worth a visit if you like films! All in all..couldnt fault anything! Hide

Lovely cottage, everything provided, although the shop isnt too local you will need to drive. Halesworth co-op has everything you may need for your self catering stay. Excellent for visiting Southwold etc. as the areas are not too far away, which is a bonus. Comfortable cottage, quiet but relaxing, we would love to revisit in the future, and thankRead more you for the lovely welcome pack also, would definitely rebook with you again, Suffolk cottages. We had a wonderful week at Japonica Cottage. It was a cosy cottage, with a nice little garden, so ideal for the two of us and the dog. The village is lovely and quiet, with interesting, quirky houses and lots of places to walk. The Star is a great pub for a drink (we didn't eat there, so can't comment on the food) and the locals were very chatty anRead mored welcoming. Great base to explore Suffolk. We especially liked Aldeburgh, with the fresh fish sold straight from the beach, and a trip to Sutton Hoo. Hide

We experienced a leak from the bath/shower during our stay. Although it was a Sunday the problem was dealt with promptly by the management company and resolved quickly by their contractor. The cottage was exactly as advertised and the facilities good. The nearby Star Inn pub served excellent food and a relaxing atmosphere.
