A lovely location near the pier. Very good spacious accommodation with off-street parking - a real bonus. Slightly spoilt by there being no house information sheet, so no info on bin collections or rules, or how to control the heating, WiFi or cooker. We worked it out eventually but it would have been good to have had the info to hand. All our prevRead moreious Southwold holiday cottages have provided all the info needed. Hide

The property was not cleaned thoroughly. There were clumps of pet hair on the floor and on the furniture. The table in the garden was unusable as it was covered in bird shit. The garden was overgrown and looked like it had not been maintained in many weeks. So overall the garden was not somewhere we could use. The kitchen lacked some essentials sucRead moreh as a kitchen roll (even though there was a holder) and a teapot amongst other things. The fridge was turned up too high and ruined some of the food we put in it at first. The downstairs loo was shabby and had obviously not been completed. Hide

On arriving we were very impressed with the light airy feel of the property. The rooms felt comfortable and we thought we could enjoy our stay. However when we looked into the garden, though it had potential, it had obviously not been touched for weeks. In order to feel comfortable sitting at the table, my daughter cleaned the garden furniture of bRead moreird poo and brushed the patio of leaves and then threw down water to clean the poo of the ground in the surrounding area. We saw that in the information you gave, a gardener would have been in either on the hand over day or on the monday/tuesday whilst we were there. No gardener appeared. I would like to point out that after our stay we took more photos of the garden when we left it - no poo on table and chairs and no leaves all over the patio. It was a very hot week and the garden would have been the perfect setting for breakfast or an evening drink. The hose that appeared to be provided had no water available so was not available to cool down the dogs or indeed hose the patio or water the plants. As this stood out to us on arriving, it unfortunately opened our eyes to other things that did not bode well for a property in a well regarded town. Having spent time in dog friendly properties here, and in both Norfolk and Rye, and child friendly too, we found some aspects concerning. In the second bedroom a night light on the top bunk was hanging down with the back off and the batteries exposed. The shower had a leak from the bottom of the left door as you look at it, there appeared to be no direction regards the bin collections, or the recycling system, there was no cleaning chemicals for either the toilet or shower, no welcome package; ie; tea/coffee/ice in the frezzer/milk (uht even) after a long journey, it would have been nice to feel welcomed. There was two containers of coffee in the cupboard - both of which were rock hard. On a more postive note, the house was very light and airy as I mentioned at the beginning. There was a fully equiped kitchen, as in the were the appliances needed to use for preparation of food. The shower was great (apart from the leak) and very powerful. There were great dog walks locally that we found (you could add places to walk the dog, if you really want to be considered a dog friendly property). As noted in the description of the property, it is in close proximity of both the pier and the town. Hide

Better scores would have been possible, but there was no handbook for any of the equipment; no visitors' log book (always fun); the central heating wasn't working on arrival - but thanks to the brilliant Julie at base, and the heating engineer, we were quickly up and running; the dishwasher needed salt and rinse aid; the bunk beds didn't really worRead morek for 2 x 17 year olds - that wasn't clear in the further particulars, as was the restricted access to the bathroom. Very nice cottage, although storage could have been better, wardrobe and drawers especially. The duvet in the main bedroom was very thin, bit cool for February
