A well located property for exploring the Suffolk coast, with a deli opposite, a shop just up the road, and a nice pub within a few hundred yards. Maintenance could be improved in places, but reasonable value for money.

We had a great week at Marsh View, it's a very attractive house in a perfect location, we loved the nearness to the beach, river and walks. Upon arrival at 4pm on Friday 1st August the bungalow had not been cleaned. The bedding and dirty towels were all over the floor, toilets filthy with dirty floors and worktops. When we rang Holiday Cottages they said they would look into it and coincidentally two ladies arrived at 4.15pm stating they had been given the wrong postcode and would getRead more it cleaned quickly for us. - Within an hour they had gone and had indeed cleaned it quickly. The property is down right grubby. Why are there no toilet brushes in either toilet? How absolutely disgusting. - The floors are dirty with sand and stones everywhere including under the rugs. - I had to wash the frying and saucepan before using it as it still had food on the side. - the crockery and mugs are chipped. - The property is tired, and in dire need of a good paint job. Why on earth would you just paint over a small circular mark on the ceiling when there is smog all over the ceiling from the wood burner? - The freezer does not work. There is a tiny iced up freezer in the top half of the fridge, which is so frozen I can barely get anything in it. - the smart TV does not function as a smart TV. - the side garden gate does not close as the vine is so overgrown. Hence the garden is not safe and secure for my dog. I have paid 25 for a dog friendly property. This may sound petty, but please bear in mind how much I have paid. Had I of paid 1,000-1,400 for the week I would have been more accepting. I have paid over 2,000. This is at best a mediocre property. I know you will not post this review on your website but do hold Holiday Cottages responsible because a) other customers have made the same complaints previously and were ignored and b) we asked for some toilet brushes to be delivered and this was ignored. I respectfully request a partial refund for the inconvenience incurred at the start of our holiday. Response from Holiday Cottages - Thank you for your review, we take these type of complaints very seriously and a partial refund has been issued. The above issues have also been dealt with and the owner contacted. Hide

Perfect location within easy reach of all of the well known Suffolk coast attractions. Lovely cottage with everything provided for a comfortable stay. Good pub (The Anchor) a short walk away and a nice deli opposite the cottage. We have stayed here several times and have already booked again for next year.

What you see in pictures and are told on line is not what we got but can only hope our dreadful experience will benefit those coming to the property after us. Walberswick is lovely but it cannot compensate for what we experienced over 2 weeks. On arrival we were absolutely shocked at the state of the so called landscaped gardens and the garden furnRead moreiture was old and uncomfortable, wobbly and held together with duck tape. The BBQ was a rust bucket behind which is an old water tank with rotting matter in the bottom (the water tank is still there). After complaining new furniture and BBQ were provided on day 8 of our holiday. There was an unmown lawn, weedy garden (3ft high) that clearly had not seen pruners for many many months. So we had to complain to get the lawn mown and some larger weeds removed but it was still not a tended garden, let alone landscaped as the pictures on the website were clearly taken years ago and the garden has not been properly maintained for at least this year. There is a type of vine growing near the kitchen window and it will not be long until the window will be completely covered by this rampant plant. When we arrived we wanted a cup of tea but one look in the mugs put pay to that and everything we used in the kitchen was first washed by us. We spent time trying to get the freezer to work and when Holiday Cottages looked at it they also could not get it to work. The cottage is now tired downstairs but if you are lucky enough to sleep upstairs (with no bathroom) it is fine. Take care in the ensuite bathroom as you could scald yourself when using the WC as it is so close to a scalding towel rail and the heat can only be adjusted by using the main on/off switch in the bedroom. We suggest you look at the toilet brushes which were disgusting and which we had removed only to find they had been put in the garden shed by HC so they could reappear as they did not provide even 1 clean toilet brush in the 2 weeks we were there. The WC had not been cleaned and was considerably splattered on then underside of the seat and the top of the toilet with poo. Curtains were hanging off rods and silverfish in a basin indicating rotting matter could be nearby. The curtains were rehung and the waste pipes in bathrooms were cleaned but all of this was only after complaining and this just takes away the joy of any holiday as we found ourselves going over and over why did we book this place, why were we sucked in by the pictures and description and what will we find next. There were other problems but hope you have the gist and that we have helped you to have a better stay than we did. Response from Holiday Cottages - Please be assured that the maintenance and cleaning issues have now been resolved, and steps have been taken to improve the inspection process. Hide
