Step out from this gorgeous, New England-style, Southwold cottage and wander over to the sandy beach opposite on warm summer days. The delightful retreat sleeps four guests and enjoys a tranquil position with sea views from upstairs. It is just 500 metres from the centre of town, with its plethora of shops and eateries, and 0.5 miles from the harbour, where families enjoy crabbing and foodies like to buy freshly landed seafood. This delightful abode, which welcomes pets, also benefits from an attractive, lawned garden where you can bask in the sunshine and watch your four-legged friends play.

Take a few steps up and let yourselves in to find a colourful lounge, where you can watch TV, play games and generally relax after your days on the beach or out walking. Head through to the kitchen to whip up light lunches and hearty dinners for your party. Carry the plates through to the sun room to dine at the table and look out over the marshes and dunes towards Walberswick and the harbour. A washing machine can be found in an outhouse. At the end of each fun-filled day, climb the stairs to a twin bedroom and a double, with TV. Both bedrooms have far-reaching views. The family bathroom is also up here. Dine out in the sunny garden as often as possible and sit out here as the sun goes down in the evening. There is off-road parking here for one car.

Amble down to the harbour to take the rowing boat ferry over to the village of Walberswick. Plan day trips out to places such as Covehithe, 5.5 miles away, with its beautiful beach and unusual ruined church with a smaller church inside. Dunwich, 9 miles away, is another picturesque place to visit along the Suffolk Heritage Coast.

Weve just had a week at The Cabin and have loved it. The propertys location is perfect for dog walking; access to the beach which is just across the road; access to lovely walks through the marshes, which are at the back of the property; the very good pub - just a few metres from the property and access to the town - just a short walk - 5 minutes. The Cabin is so far the best holiday home we have stayed in in Southwold, as the location next to the beach and the stunning views across the marsh lands, especially at sunset are magical. Equally we always loved the short walk into town to the wonderful independent shops, as the walk past the beach and beach huts is always a colourful experience. Read more The cottage is extremely well equipped with a large fridge freezer and two outdoor tables with comfortable chairs to enjoy the views of the marshes. The decor and furnishings through the house are of high quality and with a lovely colour palette. The beds were also very comfortable and we all slept very well. We can highly recommend this cottage to anyone who loves being located close to the sea with privacy and a quiet location. Hide

Fabulous location a literally stones through from the beach - although you cant actually see the beach/sea from the property because of the dune. Really lovely short walk into the main part of town or walk in the other direction to get the ferry to Walberswick. Stunning views over the salt marsh at the back. Property is showing some signs of weaRead morer compared to the newer built properties close by but pricing reflects this. Hide

This is a wonderful place to stay. Metres from the beach, every place is easy to get to, shops, pub, harbour, pier. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets to see. The Cabin is beautifully decorated and loved the modern furniture and artwork. I have already recommended to friends, hope to return again.

The Cabin was the perfect place to spend a wonderful Christmas holiday. The walk-through layout of the ground floor, from the tastefully decorated lounge, the well equipped galley kitchen, and the dining area with a 180 degree view over the salt marshes, was perfect for the 4 of us, spacious and well laid out. The bedrooms were very comfortable, anRead mored alongisede the bathroom and shower room, the whole house was very clean, neat and tidy for our arrival. An easy 10 minute walk gets you into Southwold, with wonderful eating and shopping opportunities (and a good few excellent pubs) and an even easier 3 minute walk takes you over the road, across the dunes and onto one of the East coasts best set of beaches, and the sea. If you have a dog, take it with you, if not, beg, steal or borrow one for mad long walks along the beach. We had a perfect time, and we will definetely be coming back to The Cabin. Hide

We had a great stay and very much appreciated the welcome tray on arrival. The property was exceptionally clean, comfortable and peaceful. The location was excellent and only a short walk from the Sail Loft, our favourite Southwold restaurant. All in all a lovely holiday.

The Cabin is a lovely house with great views from upstairs. The location is excellent, away from the busy town centre but convenient for everything. We have been visiting Southwold for 12 years every summer and will definitely rebook this house again - one added bonus is not being woken up by the seagulls!

The Cabin is in a fantastic location just a short walk to either the town or the Harbour, with the dunes and beach just over the road. Great views to the rear over the marshes, and to the sea from the main bedroom window. The property is very well furnished and has a large, well equipped kitchen. It feels very light and is certainly a relaxing placRead moree to stay. Although there is building work next door it didnt really cause too much of an impact, (other than their 8am start!) as we were out during the day when they are working. The garden has beautiful views but was disappointingly neglected, there was some rusting and broken furniture and a table a 3 chairs all in need of a good clean. Hide

This is a lovely holiday cottage in a great location, HOWEVER, Original Cottages did not inform us in advance that there was major building work next door throughout our stay with hammering, sawing, workmen shouting, drilling, loud music playing every day from 0800 until 1700. Separately, the dishwasher was broken and could not be fixed by two vRead moreisiting technicians, so we enjoyed washing up to the sound of building work. Upon contacting Original Cottages after we had arrived regarding both issues, we were informed that an email had been sent several months ago regarding the building work but had bounced back. I don't understand why this bounced email was not followed up with a phone call or a second email attempt (and for info, several other emails were received from Original Cottages without issue). We were offered a 20% discount, however, if we had known about the building work in advance we would have made other holiday arrangements as this property is not currently acceptable as a holiday destination. We have one family holiday a year and this year's was neither relaxing nor peaceful. A huge disappointment. Hide

Disruption to our sleep from flapping plastic sheeting surrounding the building site next door spoilt the holiday. Not made aware of it until after we had paid our deposit. One small patch of grass in the back 'garden', and next to no garden furniture !
