Wake up at this delightful cottage in Southwold to take in the picturesque, green views of the common. Sleeping three guests, the two-bedroom holiday home sits on the edge of the coastal town, yet also just 350 metres from the sandy beach. Shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants are within a 150-metre stroll and the common is a lovely place to walk. The inviting cottage has a courtyard to the rear where you can relax on sunny morning with a cup of coffee.

Step inside to find most of the ground-floor, which has underfloor heating, is a creatively designed, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, where you can spread out and relax. Recline on the soft seating while you catch up on your favourite programme on TV. Amble over to the kitchen, which is fitted with everything you might need during your stay, to prepare light snacks and big meals for your party to enjoy through in the conservatory/diner space. Open the doors in here on warm days to bring in a sea breeze. There is also a WC downstairs. Head upstairs to discover your king-size and single bedrooms, both of which look out over the common. There is also a family bathroom at this level. The courtyard is the perfect place to while away summer evenings with a glass of wine. This cottage provides parking for one car.

Enjoy the beautiful beach here in Southwold or head over to Walberswick, less than 1 mile away if you walk then take the rowing boat ferry, or Covehithe, a 5.5-mile drive away. Here you can see the ruins of a church with a smaller church set inside. Head out along the Suffolk Heritage Coast in the other direction to Dunwich, 9 miles away, where you can walk through the heath and spend time on the sand.

Really cute and quirky cottage. Great layout. Spotlessly clean. Liked the welcome pack. Ideal location, just a few minutes walk to shops, beach and common. Really pleased with our choice, would definately recommend.

Really clean, small but perfectly formed cottage. It was good to get the sofa revamped last year but still find it very uncomfortable.

Very nice little cottage in a great location. Ideal if you have a dog as it's close to the beach/dune area and the village green for runs. A bit cold and drafty - particularly chilly in the bedroom, but we were there on a very cold wet weekend in November. Well equipped kitchen.

The fittings/fixtures showed signs of ageing, e.g. rusty towel rail and door stop; the cottage looks generally neglected; disappointing compared to our previous stay there Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. Heathside is in the most perfect location - 5/10 minutes walk to the sea and harbour. A couple of minutes to the shopping area. It is a comfortable and cosy little house and it was a joy to spend the week there.

A quirky property close to town centre one way and open common/shore the other. Getting the heating right was a bit tricky especially the upstairs radiators although this would not be a problem in the summer.
