Gather the family for a holiday in this cosy cottage. Originally built for the anglers who worked around the area, this property has been in use since the 17th century. Now updated with modern amenities, you can relish the sense of history whilst enjoying contemporary comforts. Orford is a historic town and you’ll find plenty of great things to keep everyone occupied.

As you walk into the cottage, you’ll find a traditional lounge which honours the building’s past. There’s a coal-effect electric fan heater, exposed beams and comfortable seats for a timeless and cosy feel. Continue through to the kitchen/dining area, which is nicely equipped so you can make delicious home-cooked meals, possibly with local produce. When you’re tired, head upstairs to find two bedrooms, a twin and a double. There’s also a bathroom with a heated towel rail for extra comfort. The cottage has a patio garden to the rear, which you can access through a door in the kitchen. It’s a great spot for meals or a morning coffee, and the table has a parasol to keep you cool.

Orford was first built in the 12th century, as the supporting area for the castle. Now you can explore that very castle (0.5 miles) and learn the history and legends that surround the area. Lots of this was influenced by the town’s position on the River Alde, which is about 100 metres from your front door. You can take boat tours around the RSPB reserve and see the local wildlife. There are still artisanal traders around, so make sure to try the ice cream, bakery products and fresh fish for a tasty holiday treat.

Despite being a small cottage Mariner's is comfortable and ideal for a short break. The lack of a washing machine and recycling bins and the annoying (possibly illegal) requirement for guests to manage all the waste disposal, would probably put off anyone wishing to stay longer than a week.

The cottage was very comfortable, warm and cosy. The equipment supplied was extensive and we had everything we needed for our stay. The position of the cottage is also very convenient for the car park and getting to the Quay .Really enjoyed our stay there.

The cottage felt very welcoming on arrival. It was thoughtfully furnished and very comfortable with everything required for a relaxing stay. A short walk to the village centre for shopping, good restaurants and site seeing and nearby pub for meals and refreshment. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day break.

Brilliant cottage superbly located with everything you could possibly wish for in terms of catering and the kitchen. Fabulous patio which was a sun trap most of the day. Right next to the Quay and Pinneys deli.

Overall the cottage was comfortable and had the equipment that we needed to have a good holiday. Be aware though you are asked to take your rubbish away with you. This is ok if you drive, but if you arrive by public transport could be a problem.

The location of this cottage is perfect, so close to the quay, near to a very good pub and in a picture perfect village. Disappointed with the poor standard of cleanliness, something so easy to fix. We have contacted the owner so hope this can be sorted as quickly as possible.

A lovely little cottage right next to Orford Quay. The cottage had everything we needed and was very cosy. Orford itself is a lovely village and both the cottage and village are well worth staying in.

Great little cottage - very warm and homely, and in a great location too. Only between a 5-10 walk to anywhere in Orford and only 4 doors down from one of the pubs!
