‘Zeppelin’ is built on a site once devastated by the East Anglia air raids of 1915 – owing its memorable name to the type of German aircraft which conducted numerous attacks across Suffolk during the Great War. A century or so on what you’ll now find on this former bomb site is a brand-new two-bedroom cottage which is more than a stylish, self-catered dwelling; but a residential monument of true historical significance.
Having been built in 2018/19, every detail of Zeppelin has been devised with holidaymakers in mind. Beginning with an open-plan ground floor which includes: a bespoke kitchen, half-height paneling and parquet flooring, this space is furnished with an antique dining table and sofas both from the owner’s private collection. An easy staircase then leads from this free-flowing living area to a first floor consisting of two naturally-lit, sumptuous bedrooms each with generous storage space. On the very same floor a sizable 4 piece bathroom awaits – offering both a quick shower or a long soak in the tub.
The real delight of this property, however, is its ideal positioning within the quaint town of Woodbridge. With an acclaimed bakery at the end of the road, a pub just round the corner and the vibrant. Thoroughfare just a 5 minutes walk, there is much to discover, to peruse and to indulge in nearby. Beyond the centre of the town the banks of the river Deben are sure to be calling during your stay. Ever changing throughout the seasons, it’s the perfect place for a bracing walk, a picnic or to merely sketch the yachts as they rise and fall with the tide. Keen explorers will also be delighted by the ease of transport links from the local train station, which guarantees arrival from London in under 2 hours (if departing from Liverpool Street Station). In addition the nearby A12 means that day trips to notable spots such as: Southwold, Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Snape and Orford are all a breeze. Woodbridge is a historic town of great character situated on the River Deben. Its charm lies in the many narrow picturesque streets of fine houses and cottages, the river, the famous Tide Mill, the ancient buildings around the Market Hill and the fine Church. Woodbridge has an interesting shopping centre, with many specialist shops, good restaurants and pubs, together with art galleries, antique shops, the town museum and an excellent cinema/theatre, large recreation areas and an indoor heated swimming pool. With the benefit of a train station, guests can arrive from London Liverpool Street in under 2 hours.
