Shottisham is a pretty village situated between Bawdsey at the mouth of the River Deben and the busy market town of Woodbridge; it is also just a short distance away from the coast at Shingle Street. There are many public footpaths to explore in this area of Suffolk and after getting out and about why not enjoy a well-earned drink in the fantastic village pub called the Sorrel Horse which hosts many social events throughout the year.

Perfect quiet village but close to towns of interest in the area. Close to the Sorrel Horse pub, Sutton Hoo, Woodbridge, Southwold and Aldeburgh. A lovely property with everything that you need for a comfortable stay, including the garden house and a blessing- parking. Lovely welcome pack.

Mrs H,

We have had a wonderful stint in this delightful cottage. We will be back, thank you so much.

Previous Customer,

Something of a family pilgrimage to be back in this area as my parents used to have a boat at Ramsholt. Too much to do in five days but have greatly enjoyed places like the Thicks and Shingle Street plus a walk from here down the banks of the Deben to Ramsholt and back. Such a well equipped cottage! We much appreciated the tin foil to wrap our sandwiches for our visit to Orford today. Hopefully we will return to explore more of Suffolk.

Ms Julie D,

Thank you for an absolutely lovely week in your lovely cottage!

Miss Helen C,

Lovely cottage and we were very impressed with the welcome pack. Shottisham is a very beautiful village and we loved the pub and found the locals extremely friendly and helpful. An ideal location for exploring the east Suffolk coast. We enjoyed fabulous days out at Southwold, Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh and Felixstowe/Old Felixstowe. Our stay was especially enhanced by fabulous sunny spring weather every day! We were so lucky! Alfie, our terrier, enjoyed long walks every day and beach visits were his favourite. Many thanks!

Mrs Anne G,

The cottage is wonderful and filled with such beautiful artifacts, including a teacup light which I adore and and particularly the salt and pepper pot which I'm going to hunt down. We've been to a beautiful walk at Rendlesham Forest and up and behind cottage. We've also eaten at the Wilford Bridge and tonight are at the Sorrel Horse. Best place we've stayed in so far. Will thoroughly recommend.

Mr I G,

Although we only had a short stay here, Serena Cottage was just what we needed to hide and recharge. With local walks and fabulous meals at Ramsholt Arms, The Shepherd and Dog at Hollesley, with our favourite being the lamb and surf & turf at The Sorrell Horse. We live in a quiet rural place but the peace and quiet of Shottisham and the ambience of relaxation of Serena Cottage was perfect, thank you. Gina & John.

Mrs G S,

We have had a lovely stay at Serena Cottage. We have been to lots of different places in Suffolk this week but our visit to Sutton Hoo was definitely a highlight and it was even better that it is so nearby. My sleeps have been BRILLIANT! On Saturday we went to see the house in the clouds in Thorpeness and after we walked from there all the way to Aldeburgh and back. Serena Cottage is a wonderful place to stay and I would come back very soon. Thanks alot!

Previous Customer,

Lovely 3rd stay to be near my father-in-law Eric who is 100! Fantastic walks to the river, stoner point, and more gentle running than west yorkshire. Ernie the springer spaniel loves the walks and Eric enjoyed some home cooking for Christmas. I am sure we will be back. Welcome pack much appreciated particularly the cranberry relish went very well with everything.

Previous Customer,

Our second visit has just been just as good as the first in Serena Cottage. We have enjoyed many places to go and visit and some of our favourites were Shingle Street, Aldeburgh, Woodbridge, Sutton Hoo and the Suffolk Punch Trust and Jimmy's Farm if you like animals. We have been to our favourite restaurant the Ramsholt Arms twice and have had outstanding meals overlooking the river, completely dog friendly. It's been a lovely experience staying in Shottisham and maybe we'll be back for a third time.

Previous Customer,

The cottage was very well equipped, warm and comfortable. There is an excellent pub almost next door which serves very good food,

Mrs P,

We had a lovely visit to Suffolk. The weather was better than forecast which was a bonus. We visited Bawdsey, Shingle Street, Orford and Sutton Hoo. Unfortunately the petrol situation curtailed our exploring any further afield. Had lovely meals at Sorrel Horse, White Hart & Ramsholt Arms. An amazing meal at the Unruly Pig. All dog friendly. Suffolk people have been very friendly and hospitable.

Mrs Sharon S,

A well presented cottage with lovely touches like flowers, jam & eggs. We used 'Diana Irwin's Suffolk A Dog Walkers Guide' to source some wonderful walks. The Sunday lunch at the Maybush Waldringfield was exceptional - do book. The Dog at Grundisburgh is very dog friendly. A wonderful week. Maurice, Margaret & Bevan GR.

Mr Maurice L,

Had a lovely break. The flowers were a lovely touch. Spent lots of time exploring the peninsula. Sutton Hoo was a highlight. The cottage was lovely and comfortable. Many thanks.

Mr T,

Serena Cottage was well presented and clean, with everything you required in a holiday cottage!! We had a lovely time exploring and walking around this beautiful part of Suffolk. Enjoyed many pubs for food and drink. The maps in the cottage were great and we've walked nearly all the paths from Shottisham. Thank you for a wonderful stay and break.

Mr P,

A perfect way to spend a (chilly) bank holiday weekend. We really appreciated the all thoughtful touches - flowers, scones, milk - and of course the better than average selection of films. Thank you.

Mrs G,

Lovely very clean quiet cottage in a traditional Suffolk village. Flowers and treats for both of us and our dog on arrival. Walks from the door plentiful, you really are spoilt for choice. Beaches and shops within a short drive. Fabulous holiday would love to return.

Previous Customer,

This was our first visit to Suffolk and we will definitely be back. We loved exploring the gorgeous unspoilt towns and villagers and beautiful beaches. Thank you for the lovely welcoming touches within the cottage. My husband used the summer house as gym every day whilst i was out walking the footpaths with our dog Fergus. Southwold, Aldeburgh, Dunwich, Snape Maltings, Thorpeness and Woodbridge, all worth a visit and The Sorrel Horse Pub next door was lovely. Thank you so much

Previous Customer,

A small but perfectly formed cottage in a lovely quiet village for miles from Woodridge. Very good local pub and another only two miles away. Small private garden and garden room.

Ms M,

Delightful cottage with small private garden situated in pretty village. Arrived to a very welcoming food parcel and vases full of gorgeous flowers.

Mr S,

Serena cottage was beautiful and although compact had everything we needed for a short break in lovely Suffolk. The local pub the Sorrel Horse does great food and was very welcoming and there are countless footpaths and bridle ways from the village for dog walks. My husband used the summer house each day as a gym and the courtyard garden was a real sun trap. SHOTTISHAM proved a great base from which to explore the countryside and beaches - we loved Aldeburgh Southwold and Dunwich and Woodbridge was lovely for shopping and a great Riverside walk. The owners had also provided some lovely extras like fresh flowers in every room and delicious home made jam so thank you for a lovely stay - we will definitely recommend and will be back.

Mrs T,
