Renovated to capture the very best stunning views of the Ore estuary and out to sea, it would be hard to find a more idyllic barn conversion with coastal walks from the doorstep surrounded by a playground of outdoor activities, from bird watching to stargazing and kite surfing to fishing.

Comprised of two cottages linked by a shared garden, there’s plenty of room for families and large groups to retreat to either of the open plan lounge/kitchen/diners in each of the cottages, both featuring a trendy colour palette that creates a peaceful atmosphere beckoning you to whip up a locally sourced feast in the kitchen, make special memories seated around the dining table and unwind walking muscles on the sofa beside the roaring wood burner. When you can’t resist the call of bedtime, you have three bedrooms in Barn Owl and two bedrooms in Little Owl, all accessed up a few steps, to retire to for a well-earned rest before tomorrow’s adventure. French doors in each of the barns lead to a shared garden; dine alfresco on the decking, explore the lawn, enjoy the games room or take a dip in the enclosed, solar-warmed, circular plunge pool.

Situated on the coast between the villages of Orford and Bawdsey, this tucked away spot within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty provides endless walking country through unspoilt landscapes home to an abundance of wildlife to spot. Skim stones at the remote Shingle Street Beach a mile away or dive into the local history at Orford (11 miles) or Framlingham (19 miles) to discover their historic castles. From Bawdsey (4.5 miles) catch the foot ferry across to Felixstowe (22 miles) to enjoy a traditional bucket and spade day at the seaside and walks along the colourful beach hut-lined promenade.

  • Electric car charging available at extra charge paid at the time of the stay, direct to the owner, according to use
  • Space available on request for horse boxes, dinghies or RIBs
  • Large, lockable storage boxes and space in the laundry room for bikes or sailing, kiting, riding or fishing equipment
  • Enclosed, covered, 1.3-metre-deep plunge pool, solar-warmed for summer use (typically available May to end of September)
  • Hot tub hire is bookable directly via Suffolk Hot Tubs. A charge for heating the tub is payable to the owners during your stay. Owners to be notified of any hire to facilitate access and setup
  • Covered games barn with table tennis, table football and small pool table. Also includes a communal dining area with seating for 10 people (but please note there are no cooking facilities in the communal barn)
  • Beach 1 mile, shop and pub 1.5 miles
  • Children to be supervised by the pond and plunge pool at all times
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 09:30

The barns are just perfect for a large family who want to meet up an spend time as we did this Christmas. The two properties are top notch everything you need very comfortable . The owners are nearby but so approachable if you need anything , not in anyway intrusive xx Lovely touch was the milk n tea an bread an even a bottle of Prosecco in each Read morehouse x We enjoyed our stay as did our dogs x Hide

Beautiful accommodation which perfectly fitted our needs Games Barn was an excellent addition to the property The Owners were so helpful and friendly and welcomed us in arrival We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of this accommodation and wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to large family gatherings

The cottage themselves were great however, I chose them because there was a pool. This was meant that I paid more than I would have done for the same number of rooms without a pool. The weather was lovely when we arrived on the Friday and over the weekend but the pool was out of use and remained so all week. Granted, it was not warm enough to swim Read morelater in the week but I was disappointed that I had not got a pool at the start of the holiday have only chosen this particular cottage because there was a pool. Barn Owl, Little Owl and The Owl Box were ideal for our family of 8 adults, 4 children and 1 baby + 2 dogs. Clean and well equipped, Hosts Chris and Diane were very friendly and helpful. The plunge pool was a challenge for some of our group. We were allowed to hire a hot tub and that was ready for us when we arrived. Excellent publicity and photographs of the place. Really beautiful property with extremely friendly owners who went out of their way to make us feel at home. They also provided sweets for trick or treat for our little grandchildren. An ideal place for friends and family to celebrate a special birthday!
