Ruffles Cottage oozes character and cottage charm in a stunning location in the small coastal town of Orford. This self-catering cottage is perched by the village Green and is just moments away from the Market Hill.
Stepping into this cottage you are welcomed in a large hallway with lots of space for hanging coats and storing footwear. There is a cosy open plan sitting room and dining area which is a great place to relax after a busy day exploring the Suffolk coast. The original fireplace, ceiling beams and oak door with latch really add to the character of this Grade II cottage. The woodburner serves as a focal point of the room and French doors from the dining area open out onto the rear garden. Just tucked away on the ground floor is also a handy cloakroom.
The small kitchen with original brick floor comes with all the necessary self-catering appliances anyone could need. Glorious views of the garden beyond can be seen from this area.
A cottage style staircase takes you to the first floor where the bedrooms and bathroom reside. Guests can choose from the master – a double bedded room, a twin bedded room with large walk-in cupboard and glorious views over Orford’s village green, or a small single bedded room. All bedrooms are in-keeping with the cottage’s age and feature wall beams throughout. The family bathroom, whilst small but perfectly formed, has a bath with hand-held shower.
The rear garden is such a highlight of this cottage. There are two generous patio areas for setting up your garden furniture plus a good sized lawn for fun in the sun.

Another lovely time at Ruffles Cottage. Beautifully clean and the garden a picture. Thank you for the welcome wine and shortbread, and phone call checking everything ok. Friends have been down and love Orford as much as we do. Hope to be back next year.
We've all had another fantastic three weeks here, thanks again for all your kindness. These are such special times for us and there is no where else in the World quite like this. We have cycled almost every day, mostly to Sudbourne churchyard to relax and read. The weather has been lovely for us - virtually no rain - and we've eaten every meal outdoors, same as last summer. Adam is lucky enough to be staying here again in August, then we really hope we can all come again next year.
Thanks so much to the owner of charming Ruffles Cottage for providing a delightful base for our week in Suffolk. A real home from home, the cottage was clean, warm, comfortable and contained everything we needed for a week of self catering with 3 children. We've loved our time exploring the Suffolk Coastline and surrounding areas. Highlights include many walks around Orford and Orford Ness, Coffees with a view at the quayside tearooms, successful crabbing expeditions with the children, a morning at Orford Castle with mandatory trip to Pump Street Bakery for Bare Claws, also Snape Maltings.
“A lovely cottage in a quite fabulous village. The house was spotlessly clean and well-appointed. It also has a very large and beautiful garden. It is close to everything you want in the village, which has a brilliant shop, two great pubs and one of the best fish restaurants I know in the Butley Orford Oysterage. Orford is also really well placed for visiting lots of interesting places in Suffolk, and for walks. Couldn’t have been better. Would recommend to anyone.”
