On a quiet country lane on the edge of Butley estuary, Aldeburgh at Butley Mill is not your ordinary holiday cottage. Totally transformed in 2018-19, this thoughtfully designed space incorporates not only the stunning history and architecture of this converted water mill, but also the peace, tranquility and breathtaking views of both the river behind and water marsh in front.
A contemporary modern-industrial style brings Aldeburgh straight into the 21st century, but with a twist. Exposed brickwork and metal conduit are married with homely French-boutique style pieces, making this not only a self-catering property worth sharing on social media, but also a space where you and yours can relax, make memories and simply enjoy spending time together.
Of course the true pièce de résistance is the stunning open plan living area. Once a communal dining area in yesteryear, this space has been opened up and injected with character thanks to lovingly sourced antiques and a beautiful shabby chic church pew forming part of the impressive custom built Victorian pine dining table. The navy shaker kitchen adds a country kitchen twist, whilst the mauve range cooker with its induction hob not only looks striking, it's ideal for large family meals whatever time of year. To the rear, a spacious sitting room with leather furniture centres around the newly installed woodburner. You'll have fantastic fun arranging board game nights, or perhaps relaxing with a glass of wine, not forgetting making use of the full sized snooker table or piano too! All windows at the rear look out towards the mill pond and private decking, which can be reached by the sitting area. This space is utterly fantastic not only for birdwatching but also for al fresco dining.
A wide flight of stairs leads up to a former self-contained apartment. 3 bedrooms with varying views are comfortably furnished with one benefitting from an en-suite shower room and Juliet balcony overlooking the marshes to the front. The other two bedrooms share a family bathroom with both bath and overhead shower. On this level, you'll also find a shared sitting/dining area with TV, a great space should teenagers, or adults, want to break away from the group.
So if you're looking for a space to show off to your friends, or merely something 'special' for a big birthday or celebration, we guarantee you'll fall in love with Aldeburgh at Butley Mill as much as we have! Pub: 0.6 miles, Shop: 3.4 miles.
Aldeburgh at Butley Mill can also be booked in conjunction with neighbouring apartment Woodbridge at Butley Mill to sleep 8. To book this, please search for property reference BUAS.
