Suffolk is all geared up for the start of the summer season. Sleepy towns and villages seem to wake up at this time of year after a mellow start to the holiday season at Easter. And boy do we know how to wake up! Festivals, fairs, and markets are just the tip of the ice-cream when it comes to June.

The Red House Tours
Thursday 1st March to Thursday 7th June, Tuesday 26th June to Sunday 28th of October. Daily at 2 pm
The Red House provides insight into the life and living of Britten and Pears’. You are now given the opportunity to tour the home by an informative tour guide. During the tour, you can explore both floors of Britten and Pears’ home and see original interiors and personal effects sitting alongside stunning artworks collected by the pair throughout their lives. Each tour lasts approximately 40 minutes.
Somerleyton Hall & Gardens Tours
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday each week
Somerleyton Hall is home to the Crossley family and is considered one of the finest Tudor-Jacobean style architectural examples. This year you can take a tour of The Hall and The Gardens gardens from 10.00am until 5.00pm. Entrance to the hall is by tour only. Tours last approximately 45 minutes and run regularly from 11.30am until 3pm. Please note on Wednesday you can only tour The Gardens. Admission charges apply and ticket purchase permits guests to use the Kitchen Garden Café and Gift Shop.
Vintage Afternoon Tea at Helmingham Hall
Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday between 3.00pm and 5.00pm from 1st May - 14th September 2017
Where: The Coach House Tearooms. Treat yourself to a traditional afternoon tea in the stunning surroundings of Helmingham Hall Gardens. This lovely Vintage Afternoon Tea afternoon consists of sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee, all beautifully presented on vintage china. Why not add a glass of Pimms or Champagne (extra charge applies). Pre-booking is required. £15 per person or alternatively £20 per person including a visit to the gardens.
Red Rooster Festival 2018

If you're a fan of Rhythm and Blues - the Red Rooster festival is for you! Set in the heart of the Suffolk countryside this fabulous festival will feature some fantastic R&B, Roots, Americana, Country and Blues musicians around. Hosted at Euston Hall in Suffolk.
Aldeburgh Festival 2018
8th - 24th June
Each June, some of the globe’s leading musicians meet at the world-famous Snape Maltings Concert Hall to celebrate the Aldeburgh Festival, which was founded by Suffolk-born composer - Benjamin Britten.
From arts festivals to opera, chamber recitals to world music, this fabulous festival offers something for everyone and is supported by a vibrant fringe programme at The Pumphouse in Aldeburgh.

Taste of Sudbury Food and Drink Festival

Now in its 7th year, Taste of Sudbury Food and Drink Festival returns! In 2018 over sixty stalls will be filling Market Hill and St Peter’s Church with a wonderful selection of top quality food and drink.

Plant for Women's Wellbeing

Join Urban Jungle Suffolk in Beccles for a fabulous girls night in the Jungle! Learn how your garden plants can help you in more ways than you could imagine whilst enjoying a giggle and a cocktail or two... Plants and nature have an astounding ability to heal. TV presenter, media personality and gardening enthusiast Ellen Mary, has devised a series of 'Grow Your Own Health' talks and is kicking off with Plants for Women’s Wellbeing, addressing common female health issues and key life stages. Tickets are £15 and the evening begins at 6 pm (talks begin at 7 pm).
We Are Handmade Summer Crafts Fair

From 10 - 4, The Old School in Long Melford will have forty stalls showcasing wonderful crafts. The event which will offer shoppers a wonderful choice of beautifully designed and handcrafted items. Whether you’re looking for a wedding gift; a new ornament or well-designed practical item for the home or a piece of quality handmade jewellery. Makers will be showcasing the latest in contemporary and vintage inspired handmade items, including jewellery, clothes, bags, pottery, soaps, cards, soft furnishings, glass and wood turned gifts and homewares and much more. A full list of makers will be on www.wearehandmade.co.uk nearer the event. Norah from Fantasia Textiles will be demonstrating various textile techniques throughout the day. Visitors can sit down and enjoy some delicious homemade cakes with a cup of tea, all served in lovely vintage style crockery, courtesy of Plum Fairy who will be running the tearoom. Southwold Ladies Doubles Tennis Coaching and Tournament

In aid of Dementia UK, St. Felix School will be hosting a day event of tennis coaching and a tournament. Whether you're semi-professional or you've never played tennis before, this is a fun day out for everyone all in the name of charity. A doubles partner is not needed, you can turn up with friends, family or alone. A lunch will be provided during the day and a raffle will take place. Music by the Sea

The free 'Music by the Sea' open-air charity concert is coming to Aldeburgh with a great line-up of national and local artists performing live from 4 pm until dark. Gates open at 3 pm and along with the performers, various stalls and activities will keep you entertained for the whole evening. Taking place in the King’s Field, top acts at this summer’s concert include a dynamic ELO tribute band and popular Suffolk band Albion Mills playing their repertoire of classic rock and pop from the Golden Age of the 60s and 70s. Other confirmed performers include Everly Everly and rock ‘n roll band J.S & The Lockerbillies, who are sure to get the audience up on their feet
Kenton Hall Estate Food Fair
Saturday 23rd JuneKenton Hall Estate near Debenham is a beautiful estate which can be found nestled deep in the Suffolk countryside. This June their Food Fair is set to be a fantastic foodie event. Organised by Suffolk Young Producer sisters Emily and Lucy McVeigh the annual food fair features a farmers market, cookery demonstrations, tearoom, cookery demos and much more. Pop into The Food Hub Cookery School for cookery demonstrations by local chefs, these demos free and informal, and there is no need to book! This is a free event running from 10:00 - 15:00. Southwold Arts Festival 2018
23rd - 30th June
Now in its fifth year, Southwold Arts Festival has gone from strength to strength and celebrates music, drama, poetry, visual art, photography, dance, talks and literature. Taking place in various venues in Southwold and Southwold High Street and Market Place, the towns shops, cafes and pubs all join in with the celebration. Each event is ticketed at various prices and is likely to sell out. The street festival and festival service kick off the eight days on the 23rd and are free to enjoy. Chelsworth Open Gardens

Chelsworth is a picturesque village situated in the beautiful Brett Valley, just a few miles from Lavenham and is regarded as one the prettiest villages in the country. This will be the 51st year that residents in the village have opened their wonderful private gardens to the public on the last Sunday in June. This year's event will include cakes, teas and savoury refreshments, live music, plant and produce stalls, food, craft and other commercial stands. Proceeds from the event will be for All Saints Church, Chelsworth. The cost of the event is £6 for adults and children go free. The event will run from 11:00 am - 17:00 pm.
Heveningham Hall Country Fair
30th June - 1st July
Head to the Heveningham Hall Country Fair for a fantastic day out of attractions, animals, entertainment, food & drink and shopping. The event is most famous for its amazing display of classic vehicles which sit outside the front of the grand hall on the pristine gardens, quite the spectacle. From bungee jumps to nature corners to pigmy goats, there is something for everyone at this country fair. The event will be open from 10 am - 5 pm each day.
