Thorpeness Meare is completely unique and totally charming. Created in 1913 in homage to J.M Barrie, author of Peter Pan, this 60 acre expanse of water, islands and surrounding banks is something for the whole family to enjoy. Take a row boat, canoe or punt out and explore the islands, dragons’ lairs, fort and other surprises. The water is perfectly safe – at no point is it any deeper than 3 feet. After your adventures, you can enjoy afternoon tea or something more substantial at the meare-side café.
