Set within one of Suffolk’s most picturesque villages, this charming cottage makes the perfect rural bolthole for couples or a small group of friends. You’ll have endless walks from your doorstep, and there are some fabulous Suffolk towns and villages nearby, including Thetford (14 miles) and Bury St Edmunds (12 miles). After a day of exploring, snuggle up in the characterful lounge, warming your toes by the wood burner.

The cosy cottage is full of personality and charm, with original features, exposed woodwork, and homely touches. The ground floor of the cottage has an open-plan layout, although the fascinating original timber frame still remains. Spend your evenings on the sofa in front of the inglenook fireplace which now houses a roaring wood burner, cooking up a storm in the bespoke kitchen area, and sharing delicious food at the dining table. A utility room and shower room complete the ground floor. Upstairs, an elegant king-size bedroom awaits, with a vaulted ceiling and en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom is on the spacious landing and has a single bed and a pull-out trundle bed to accommodate a fourth guest if needed. To the front of the cottage is a sweet, enclosed courtyard where you can sip a morning coffee at the bistro table.

Set out from the village along the quiet country lanes and public footpaths, soaking up the tranquillity and admiring the local wildlife. Afterwards, refuel in one of Walsham le Willows’ friendly pubs. Alternatively, journey to Thetford Forest Park (14 miles), where you’ll find walking trails, cycle tracks, and bridleways in the vast pine forest. There’s also Go Ape for adrenaline-seekers, plus multiple picnic and BBQ areas. The historic town of Bury St Edmunds makes a lovely day out, with its plethora of independent restaurants, regular markets, and atmospheric abbey ruins.

Gabriel's place is a lovely cottage for couples and families of up to four persons. Living room with kitchen is one spacy area, there are two bathrooms. Washing up is by hand, but there is a washing machine. Our host was friendly and enthousiastic, and was so kind to do some shopping for us before our arrival. The location is in the heart of East ARead morenglia, many places are close enough to visit by car, and in the direct neighbourhood there are quite some public footpaths available. We had a week of lovely weather, so we did not light the stove that stood ready for us. Hide

There were a couple of small issues but they were dealt with quickly by the owner. It was perfect for our short break.

Lovely comfortable tastefully decorated cottage in a beautiful village setting. Communication with the owner, while not in person was very good. Perfect place to stay while visiting our parents who live nearby.

John was a very welcoming host and extremely generous, leaving a lovely box of groceries and as much wood as we needed for the wood burner. Its a very characterful and cosy cottage.
