Sudbury, one of Suffolk's wool towns is located on the Suffolk and Essex border and is most famous for being the birthplace of Thomas Gainsborough. You can learn all about the artist at the popular Gainsborough House Museum and Gallery. Sudbury is still surrounded by the famous water meadows which inspired Gainsborough paintings as well as Suffolk's other famous artist John Constable. This bustling market town has many well-known and independent shops, restaurants and cafes to choose from, as well as, a good selection of pubs for you to try the local ales.
