Tucked away in a peaceful, traffic free location, off a no-through lane in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, the ‘Chicken Shed’ is a welcome antidote to the strains and stresses of urban life.  Newly constructed on the site of a former chicken shed, this single storey building offers modern, and comfortable accommodation for up to 4 looking to explore, or simply relax in, this delightful area of East Anglia. Centrally located within 8 miles of the historic market town of Diss, it offers easy access to the Suffolk coast (Aldeburgh is 40 minutes drive), the wonderful cathedral cities of  Norwich and Bury St Edmunds (both 35 minutes) and Newmarket, ‘Headquarters’ of Horseracing and its world famous racecourses (45 minutes). Bressingham Steam Museum, with its miniature steam trains, is within 30 minutes drive, as is Banham Zoo, and Framlingham, with its imposing castle is less than 20 minutes.

The Chicken Shed has a wonderful open plan living area with glorious high ceilings; windows and French doors flood the space with natural light, whilst antique furniture makes this space inviting and utterly charming. The two bedrooms are of good size, with a family size wet room and separate shower and loo in the utility room, serving the second bedroom.

Opening onto a two acre meadow which is an ideal recreational area for dogs or children, the Chicken Shed is situated some thirty metres from the owners’ farmhouse, and has a private entrance and driveway. Keen walkers and nature enthusiasts will enjoy exploring the nearby bridle path, leading through to Bedingfield, or the lane that leads to the village of Occold; why not treat yourself to a refreshing pint of Suffolk ale in the Beaconsfield Arms after a gentle walk of less than a mile! A bit further afield is the Swan at Hoxne, a wonderful old coaching inn, or the Victoria at Earl Soham, which serves local Earl Soham Brewery beers. For wedding guests, the Chicken Shed is just a short drive from The Oaksmere (12 minutes), Yaxley Hall (13 minutes), Kenton Hall Estate (14 minutes) and Crows Hall (19 minutes).

For a restful stay in peaceful surroundings, or as a base for exploring this unspoilt part of rural East Anglia, the Chicken Shed will be just what the doctor ordered! Nearest Pub: 0.9 miles, Shops: 3.1 miles.

Very peaceful and comfortable and ideal if you want to get away from it all. Lots of walks from the from the door and well located for exploring Suffolk.

Mrs C,

An extrememly spacious, very quiet and beautifully warm - we stayed in November - property.

Ms G,

Booking was very easy. Great communication from Suffolk Secrets in advance of our stay. The accommodation was just as described well equipped and the owners were lovely. Would definitely recommend!

Mr L,

Fantastic holiday, really friendly team. Thank you :)

Mr B,

This was our 3rd visit and we had the same thoroughly relaxing holiday as before. Peace, quiet, an abundance of wildlife and a proper pub with good pub food - what more could you ask for? I especially like seeing the albino pheasant....

Mr B,

Lovely countryside property, so peaceful and quiet, great for a family of four and a dog. Great pub just up the road and close to various days out plus under an hour’s drive to the coast.

Miss S,

Lovely light, bright, comfortable and well equipped property. Within easy drives to the village of Eye and town of Diss.

Mrs S,

The Chicken Shed in Occold is the perfect holiday home. It is very clean, well equipped and is tastefully decorated and there was everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location is very peaceful and quiet and there is wildlife on the meadow just outside the front door (we saw deer, hares, rabbits, pheasants during the week's stay). We received a warm welcome from the owners and we appreciated the welcome pack. The village pub is just short of a mile away down a no-through road. The landlords were very friendly and served great food and beer. We came for the peace and quiet and the cycling. It was ideal cycling in the area around Occold, with many quiet small roads with not much traffic. We will definitely go back there again.

Mrs S,

Lovely property in a beautiful quiet location surrounded by fields to walk the dog in. Lovely property inside with everything we needed. Really great!

Mrs B,
