The perfect romantic escape… this one bedroom cottage is a great option for a couple and their dogs. Interiors are contemporary and Scandi style with a central wood burning stove at the heart of the home, a great place to kick off your shoes and relax whatever the weather. Constructed of oak and glass with wide French doors and windows to one side, Akenfield has plenty of outside space with a lovely cottage garden extending to one third of an acre. Lawns lead down to the banks of the River Deben, home to otters, perch, kingfisher and owls. Reviews

It is rare to arrive at a holiday cottage and to find it completely exceeds expectations as with Akenfield Cottage. Thank you David and Ruth for your thoughtful care and attention to detail - a perfect, peaceful holiday in lovely surroundings.

Chris & C,

Stayed at Akenfield Cottage 17--June for one week. EXCELLENT place to stay, so peaceful and yet so near to all the beautiful places there are to visit, and owners Ruth and David are so pleasant, there. was a nice bottle of wine and biscuits to welcome us. Plus the river is a beautiful place to sit and relax by, wonderful wildlife all around , and the fishing is excellent, just clear the weed in front of you and away you go,I caught a massive pike, which really made my week.

Mr K,

Loved our week at Akenfield Cottage, beautiful and quiet location, perfect for a relaxing week. Hosts were very accommodating. Would definitely recommend.

Mr A,

Lovely peaceful location. Property owners very helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Well equipped, everything thought of. Spacious, light, but lovely and warm.

Mrs F,

The cottage was a splendid place to stay. Very well equipped, including lots of useful items for dogs, bowls and blankets etc. The hosts included a generous welcome basket, including a bottle of wine. The location is superb, stunning views, in a very quiet area, but only 10 minutes by car to a lovely small town which has everything you need. Also an easy mile walk to an excellent country pub along quiet road/footpaths. Highly recommend and lots to do and see in this part Suffolk.

Mrs S,

Lovely cottage in quiet location but in easy reach of coast. Lots of walks for our energetic dog to enjoy and very friendly owners on site.

Mrs H,

Thank you Ruth & David for such a warm welcome. Very much enjoyed our stay in this well appointed cottage in beautiful surroundings; it's a credit to you. Thanks also for the wine etc, Milo especially liked the treats. Look forward to seeing you, and of course, Molly next year can't wait!

Mr Trefor R,

Absolutely lovely little property. Hear nothing but the sounds of nature. Very well equipped and spotlessly clean.

Ms L,

True to the photographs on the website. Lovely location, ideal for either staying put or visiting the many places of interest in the area.

Mrs H,

We found the property fairly easily following the directions given, the house and gardens actually exceeded our expectations, we were a little apprehensive about going on holiday in the present Covid restrictions, but on arrival found the accommodation spotless, it had obviously been cleaned to a high standard. After a journey of over 200 miles we were pleasantly surprised not only to find real milk and a box of shortbread biscuits with tea and coffee sachets, but also a bonus of a bottle of Frascati. Overall we spent a very relaxing week here, highly recommended.

Mr C,

The weather during our stay was not ideal. However we were warm, snug and very comfortable in our accommodation. Everything we needed was there and everything worked perfectly. The best thing was the view from the cottage, sitting by the river and taking short trips on the little rowing boat. It really was a little bit of paradise. We saw lots of wildlife. Lovely and quiet with charming owners who live in the cottage next door. Would love to return again.

Mrs W,

Lovely cottage & lovely hosts. Had a fantastic time watching the kingfisher nest on the river. Really comfortable & lots of nice places to visit within easy driving distance.
