Have a magical stay at this exquisite, picture-postcard cottage, which backs on to a stream, in the delightful village of Laxfield. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom, dog-friendly hideaway is a gem of holiday home, with a wood burning stove for cosy autumn and winter days and a lovely, leafy garden for summer afternoons. Head out into the Suffolk countryside on long walks or make your way across to the coast at Dunwich, 13.5 miles away, from here to paddle, swim and spend time on the sand.

Wander inside to find characterful rooms featuring exposed brickwork and beautiful beams, some of which date back more than 500 years. The charming lounge has an inglenook fireplace, with a wood burner that you can stoke up on chilly days. Watch TV or a DVD in here or chat about the adventures of the day. The cottage kitchen is well-equipped to help you cater for your party and there is a dining room for celebratory and family meals. The family bathroom and both bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, are on the first floor. There is also a shed at the cottage that houses laundry facilities. Take your children and canine companion out into the garden on warm days so they can play games on the grass. Dine out here and take in the country views. There is parking for one car at this cottage.

Head off to Framlingham, 7.5 miles away, to see the impressive castle, walk along its walls and step into a former workhouse. Make your way to Dunwich to pick up the Suffolk Coast Path and visit the museum here to find out more about the quiet village that was once a thriving port until it disappeared under the sea. Venture 14.5 miles to Diss to attend a lively auction.

The cottage is nice and secluded but easy to access shop and pubs, a delightful quirky cottage with interesting objects and books, lovely garden, stream and outlook. Its cosy with more than ample wood for the wood burner and heating through the cottage, a very welcoming atmosphere. We loved being there and had a very happy week.
