In the idyllic and historic village of Huntingfield, you’ll find the charming country retreat that is Woodside. Visiting this wonderful cottage will have you ideally located to explore the fascinating local area, as well as the wider county of Suffolk with all that it offers. If you’re looking for a retreat where you can enjoy a number of lovely walks followed by a hearty pub meal, look no further! A mere stone’s throw away from Woodside, you will find The Huntingfield Arms – a great spot to stop off for refreshment or an evening meal. A short walk from the cottage is the magnificent Heveningham Hall with its beautiful grounds and lakes which hosts the acclaimed summer country fair and the fantastic bonfire night celebrations; early booking of Woodside is advisable.
Woodside is a beautiful Grade II listed cottage dating back to the 17th century. Tastefully furnished throughout, this well-equipped and cosy home from home offers accommodation for five guests. Brimming with charm, the cottage has original features such as a beautiful inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove, an abundance of exposed oak beams and a vaulted ceiling which enhances the warm atmosphere. What’s more, no family member needs to be left behind as this cottage also welcomes dogs!
Outside, the spacious and peaceful garden merges into the surrounding woodland. The private patio is the perfect place for a spot of alfresco dining or simply offers a space to relax and absorb the peace and quiet of the woodland atmosphere. The sloping terraced wild garden drops down to a stream which is a tributary of the River Blyth.
The River Blyth and the Blyth Valley links Huntingfield to Southwold and the sea. The Blyth Valley is part of Suffolk’s coastal AONB (Area of Outstanding National Beauty) and is ideal for those who enjoy wildlife, birdwatching, or merely beautiful scenic walks. From its source near Huntingfield, some 12 miles inland, the gentle Blyth meanders its watery way through the delightful country market town of Halesworth with its charming and unique independent shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes only some four miles from the cottage. The river continues on through water meadows and the quintessential Suffolk countryside to Blythburgh where it opens out into the tidal estuary, a vast haven for birdlife, before entering the sea at Southwold. This is such a lovely area to explore that you may just struggle to pack in everything during your stay!

Found the property to be in a great location for a quite holiday, very clean and comfortable. Very pet friendly.
thank you for a lovely holiday. Your cottage is really cosy and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay very much, especially returning in the evening to Huntingfield. A lovely village with lots to do. We had lots of walks in the woods, did a few circular walks and ended up at the Huntingfield Arms. A very friendly landlord who saved us a nice table every evening for our evening meal. We travelled around but did not go too far. We went to Southwold and had fish, chips and mushy peas by the pier. Lovely sunny day. Another day we went to the harbour and walked a little way over to Wableswick. Quite busy there, so we were dodging people a lot. We also visited Dunwich National Trust reserve and Minsmere bird reserve, both good days. We visited Framlingham Castle and had an interesting day there. The weather was kind to us, until the last day - but cannot complain. We would end the afternoon by coming back to the cottage and sitting in the garden with a glass of wine overlooking the woods and listening to a woodpecker. Just to say thank you once again and we would love to come back to the cottage again soon - hopefully, in the early spring, all being well. Past Customer
