Experience an enchanting stay at this Suffolk woodland wonder. Sleeping five guests, and a canine companion, the magical, three-bedroom cottage is set at the heart of the King’s Forest near Bury St Edmunds. One of a pair of homes once lived in by estate workers, it still boasts a wealth of original charm, as well as tranquillity, country views and an abundance of wildlife. With a gorgeous open fire and a two-acre, lawned garden, it makes a gorgeous retreat at any time of year.

Return from your forest walks or cycle rides to light the open fire in the lounge and settle down with your books or in front of the Smart TV as the flames cast a cosy glow. Head through to the kitchen/diner to put clothing in the washing machine after muddy walks or to make a cup of tea to enjoy with the freshly baked Suffolk cakes you have bought in Bury St Edmunds. Make tasty meals to sit down to at the table in here or out in garden. Discover you also have a handy boot room, where you can leave walking boots and wellies, plus a family bathroom downstairs. Climb the steep, cottage-style stairs to enjoy a comfortable night’s sleep in the king-size bedroom, the single, or the double, which has an extra day bed. Spill out into the garden to play games with the children, watch your pet run around and look out for red deer and owls. There is parking for three cars.

We were amazed by how peaceful and tranquil the cottage was - something we value highly.when we book cottages. Yet it's just fifteen minutes from central Bury St Edmunds, and the wonderful activities in the pretty surrounding area. The cottage was a great size for us, with two teenage boys who love their space. Given the rural setting and the age oRead moref the property its quality is reflective of this, as is the wifi and the television reception - which we were expecting. This was more than made up for by the frequent deer visits to the garden and being awoken by the chirring of nightjars. We were all sad to leave - including our cockapoo who refused to get in the car because she loved the garden so much! Hide

This property is ideal if you're looking for seclusion away from modern life. The cottage is a lovely, old estate workers cottage with a gorgeous large fire place. The garden is large and you are surrounded by wildlife. A great location if you want to read, write, sketch and play board games.

It is a lovely and well equipped property in a fantastic location but it IS really dirty. Lots of dust, cobwebs and spiders and the kitchen floor is absolutely filthy (wiped something up and the cloth was literally black!). It didn't spoil our enjoyment of our weekend too much but it would definitely benefit from a proper clean!!
