Bury St Edmunds is an exciting award-winning market town in the heart of Suffolk and was awarded Fair Trade Town status in 2015. Named after the martyred Saint Edmund, Bury St Edmunds is home to the only Cathedral in Suffolk and has a wealth of medieval architecture. This thriving town rarely sleeps; fayres and festivals held throughout the year celebrate sport to food and drink and the modern Apex provides one of the best acoustic venues in the country. Bury St Edmunds has appeal to all that visit; the Theatre Royal is the only remaining Regency Playhouse in England whilst the Arc shopping area, built on the old Cattle Market, is a 21st century shopping area with an array of both national and independent shops, restaurants and cafes. Bury St Edmunds has some fabulous secrets to discover; not only is it home to the smallest pub in Britain, it is also the final resting place of Mary Tudor, Henry VIII’s favourite sister.

We arrived on the coldest night of the year, walked through the front door to be greeted by the most beautifully decorated Xmas tree, the log burner was lit and roaring, which we were so thankful for. The whole house is absolutely stunning, the décor, furnishings have been so thoughtfully done and to a very high standard. The welcome hamper which was certainly not expected but gratefully received went down well. We come away for a few relaxing days and couldn’t have wished for anything more perfect to stay in. we will come back again and will be recommending to people. Thank you very much Martin, Leisa, Gary & Sarah
What a wonderful week we have had! The weather has been amazing, and we enjoyed the mini festival that was going on in the town. We have loved staying in your beautifully decorated house and have been so comfortable both inside and in the garden too. Many thanks for the hamper treats, it was so thoughtful of you. We’ve had some great days out – fishing near Creeting, the Anglo-Saxon village and Long Melford as well as some lovely meals. Hopefully we will return soon. Kind Regards Paul, Susan and Liam
We arrived, opened the front door and said wow! Beautifully decorated accommodation with great attention to detail and very comfortable. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bishops. Thank you very much for the welcome hamper, much appreciated. The garden is wonderful and we have sat out in the evening, well wrapped up enjoying a glass of wine. Bury St. Edmunds is a lovely place to tour Suffolk. We visited Ickworth, Melford Hall, Anglesy Abbey. Lavenham a very pretty village, Wroxham Broads and RSPB Minsmere a lovely day out on the coast. It was good to be able to leave the car some days and explore BSE, the abbey gardens are lovely. Francela on Angel Hill is very good, celebrated our 30th W.A. there. Definitely need to comeback as there is so much more to see and do in Suffolk. Thank you Carole & Mick. Leicester
We had a lovely week! The house is great, wonderfully designed with everything we required. Many thanks. Richard, Mary, May & Sue x
What a wonderfully decorated home!! All the mod cons you’d look for to make your stay great but everything was really top spec! 3 TV’s meant there were no arguments with the kids on what to watch. Located close to all the restaurants and shops which was great for us. Drove to both the Suffolk and Norfolk coasts a number of times – would recommend both Southwold and Wells for days out. Lovely stay and will recommend. Thank you!! Welcome Hamper also a fab touch, thanks
We have really enjoyed our stay here in this beautiful home! The welcome hamper was a lovely surprise & the great weather meant we could make use of the lovely outdoor space too! So close to the centre of Bury St Edmunds with its many shops and restaurants. We would recommend staying here to family and friends. Thank you for a memorable time!
We enjoyed our stay at 21 Bishops Road. It was a great place to stay with a young family and very close to the town centre. The welcome pack was very much appreciated! Would not hesitate to recommend to our family and friends. Jasmeet & Jaspal x
Such a stunning place! The decorations fit perfectly to this cosy house. Almost everything was provided! Even though it was raining most of the time, we enjoyed our stay at 21 Bishops Road. Thank you for the welcome box! Gorgeous garden too! Thanks again, all the best!
Thanks for a nice stay
A lovely week in a lovely house! Just right size for 2 and the outside space is so well designed. We were lucky that the weather was better than forecast so we could have our evening and drinks in the garden. Bury St. Edmunds is such an interesting town(city?!) with great shops, cafes, and restaurants and plenty of history to explore. We highly recommend. Francela in Angel Hill. Many thanks Judith & Virginia
We can only echo the earlier comments about how well Equipped this Tardis- like house is! Greatly enjoyed sitting in the sub trap back garden once the weather improved mid-week. A lovely relaxing week visiting the wool town with their stunning churches. Southwold on the warmest day and also all what Bury St. Edmunds has to offer. The contents of the welcome hamper were put to good use! Thank you. All in all we will be recommending Bishops as a really excellent place to stay in this delightful part of the world. Richard & Helen Rossington
What a beautiful home – a real luxury self-catering home away from home. Lovely small touches such as the hamper on arrival that make a difference to the start of your holiday. The courtyard garden is wonderful and a real sun trap in the afternoons. This home is a perfect getaway house and a real treat to stay somewhere that is both beautiful and homely at the same time. Thank you – this is a real find and an excellent base for exploring areas of Suffolk. A trip to Southwold is a must! Xxx

What a great house to stay in inside and out. Our stay was made all the better by the lovely Indian summer weather. Lots to do in and around town with visits to the surrounding countryside a must. Hopefully we will be back. The Doyle’s
Lovely home beautifully decorated. We had a great week and thoroughly enjoyed Bury St. Edmunds plus Suffolk. We were lucky with some sunny days so a table to go with the chair’s outdoors would have been beneficial – maybe for next summer! The Manso’s P.S.
