Boasting miles of walking trails along the Orwell, fantastic sea views from the tip of the peninsula, and ancient woodlands to explore, the Shotley Peninsula is a fantastic place to visit with your four-legged friend.
Much of this area of Suffolk is criss-crossed with bridleways and footpaths, making it ideal territory for an abundance of lovely days out and about exploring with your pet! Just a little reminder to keep dogs on leads where necessary and to always keep a ready supply of bags to hand to clear up after your pet.

The Gardeners Arms

There’s a great choice of pub grub on offer at this pet-friendly pub including a good selection of seasonal fresh fish. After exploring a variety of lovely walks nearby, The Gardeners Arm’s garden is the perfect place to relax in after all of that exercise. Dogs are usually welcomed into the bar area, but please keep doggies out of the dining area. There’s usually a fresh supply of water in dog bowls outside, but if these are empty, please don’t hesitate to let the bar staff know!
Butt and Oyster

The Butt and Oyster is a fantastic Suffolk pub located right on the River Orwell. Part of the Deben Inns group, this fabulous riverside pub offers good food and welcomes dogs outside. The All About Dog show offers a “pawfect” day out for you and your pet with its Lurcher displays, sheep dog trials and lots of other tail-wagging fun. Join in the entertainment, pick up some tips on how to groom your pooch, and enjoy all of the dog-related action!
This springtime show takes place at Trinity Park, Ipswich. This is less than a 30 minute drive from Pin Mill and Chelmondiston.
Alton Water Park
Alton Water Park has miles of walking trails that encircle the reservoir. However, as this area is wildlife reserve and home to an abundance of birdlife, please keep your dog on a short lead at all times and clean up after your pet.
