Pin Mill Cottages
Located directly on the River Orwell, Pin Mill is a very popular destination on the Shotley Peninsula. Pin Mill is famous for being home to the Butt and Oyster pub and Woolverstone Marina. Here you can sit and watch with a well-earned drink or meal as the impressive red sail Thames barges head up the river towards Ipswich. There is a wealth of foot and cycle paths waiting to be explored surrounding Pin Mill and throughout the Shotley Peninsula.
Our Pin Mill cottages are perfectly located for exploring other wonderful highlights of the Shotley Peninsula including Shotley itself. This is where the River Orwell meets the River Stour and the North Sea. At the very tip of the Shotley peninsular is Shotley Gate which has commanding views over the international Port of Felixstowe and Harwich. Stroll around Shotley Marina and visit the HMS Ganges Museum followed by a meal at the Shipwreck Pub which offers unrivalled views over the river.
If you want to try your hand at sailing why not visit Alton Water which is only a few miles up the road? Here you can hire everything from boats to windsurfing equipment and explore the largest area of inland water in Suffolk. If you don't want to get wet you can always use the foot and cycle path that surrounds Alton Water and admire the beautiful Suffolk scenery.
In the nearby village of Freston, and just under the Orwell Bridge, is the Suffolk Food Hall. This is a must stop for any foodie, providing lots of locally sourced produce as well as a restaurant, cookery school and garden centre. Discover Pin Mill and this beautiful area for yourself!
