Surf Cadet Camps 2018
Having fun at the beach plays a big part in a family holiday in Suffolk. When the sun is shining there's nothing better than a splash around in the sea. However, the sea is not without it's dangers and it's hugely important to stay safe whilst having fun.
This summer Suffolk Secrets has joined forces with Waveney Surf Life Saving Club to bring you a series of free 'Junior Lifeguard Camps', for children aged 7-14. These one and a half hour fun sessions at Southwold Beach are based on the Surf Cadet programme which gives children the tools and knowledge to be safer by the sea, and therefore for parents to feel at east to allow them to have fun in the water.
Each session will give children the opportunity to paddle a recue board and body surf, whilst providing education about rip currents, waves and other dangers as well as fun beach activities including 'Beach Flag's a fast and energetic sport event.
Children who take part will receive a free goody bag and certificate. There may even be a visit from RNLI mascot 'Stormy Stan'. The sessions will cater for the ability of the group; the only pre-requisite is that the child must be between the age of 7-14 years and able to swim 50m unaided.
All Waveney Surf Life Saving Club coaches are experienced in working with children and have full DBS checks and safeguarding training. You don’t need any equipment to take part, and wet suits can be provided for the session. (You may wish to provide beach footwear.)
Dates for the events are;
Monday 13th August, 10.30am
Wednesday 15th August, 10.30am
