Serving up all the character and charm, The Old Chapel is certainly a property offering something out of the ordinary! This is a unique opportunity to experience a retreat for seven in this former chapel in the countryside village of Wissett, a short drive from Southwold. If you're looking to explore the Suffolk coast and countryside then The Old Chapel provides an ideal base for family and friends alike, with space for seven guests.
The Old Chapel is currently undergoing refurbishment - New photographs available upon completion of the renovations.
You'll first be greeted by the charming exterior of the chapel and its surrounding large stone paved courtyard. Whatever time of year you choose to visit, this authentic chapel courtyard provides an attractive space. The magnolia tree takes centre stage in front of the chapel doors in the Spring and early summer and even in the winter the blanket of beautifully blooming cyclamens are a very welcome sight.
Bursting with characterful features at every turn, from the Suffolk white brick to the arched doors and windows yet when inside you'll find a cleverly converted space that makes an ideal base for your next Suffolk getaway. A small porch space provides the perfect space to stowaway shoes and coats and then it's through to a spacious open-plan sitting/dining room with impressive feature inglenook fireplace with stove and a dining space ideal for bringing your party together. A compact but practical kitchen lies to the rear of the chapel and is well equipped with oil-fired Rayburn stove and convection oven for those evenings you choose to enjoy a home cooked meal.
On to the all important bedrooms with three of the four bedrooms located on the first floor. The characterful features continue up here with low exposed timber beams and arched windows. The bedrooms are small but perfectly formed with two double bedrooms and one twin room. The fourth bedroom is on the ground floor with a single bed, however this bedroom is without radiators, convection heaters are supplied for guests wishing to use this room in the colder months.
The Old Chapel is conveniently located just a few doors down from the local village pub, The Wissett Plough, and surrounded by beautiful countryside walks. You'll also be just 1.5 miles from the market town of Halesworth so you can easily stock up on holiday supplies. The Suffolk Heritage coast with its ever popular destinations such as Southwold, Dunwich and Aldeburgh are an easy drive away. So for a rural retreat with easy access to some of the favourite coastal spots in Suffolk then don't delay booking your stay at The Old Chapel.
