Shopping in Southwold

Southwold High Street boasts a unique collection of independent boutiques and shops, where you’ll find everything from antiques, seasonal produce, gifts, jewellery, pottery, glassware, hand-made candles and the obligatory bucket and spade!

For your holiday essentials, including newspapers, magazines, confectionery and children’s craft kits, visit Chapmans.  Spots are also a favourite destination for the younger visitor, supplying a wide range of toys, Lego, craft books, model yachts, games and pocket-money toys.

For something a little more quirky, a visit to the Amber Shop & Museum provides a fascinating insight into this golden-coloured gemstone, prized since Neolithic times.  Southwold’s Amber Shop claims to be Britain's oldest and largest specialist and deals in modern and antique jewellery —settings, in addition to objects d'art.

For true fashionistas, a visit to Collen & Clare is a must, hailed as one of 'the top 50 boutiques in Britain' by the Sunday Telegraph Stella magazine. Also voted as ‘one of the UK’s 50 Most Inspiring Independents’ by Drapers, Collen & Clare boasts a collection of some of the most coveted names in fashion including Mulberry, Hudson Jeans, DvF, Joseph, Caudalìe, Hunter and Hermès.

As popular for its men’s clothing as it is for its women’s collection, Gun Hill Clothing Company prides itself in being a traditional retailer, offering labels such as Gant, Hackett, RM Williams, Rampant, Saltwater and Scotch and Soda.

If you fancy taking home some local art from your stay with us why not visit CraftCo — an artists’ cooperative selling a unique collection of lino-prints, jewellery, glassware, paintings and textiles.  A visit to the Serena Hall Gallery on Queen Street also offers a colourful collection of work by up-and-coming artists all over the UK, including Suffolk and Norfolk.

Popular with food lovers, Southwold also offers a fantastic selection of independent specialist shops that supply a tantalising choice of food and drink.  For more information, visit our food and drink section by clicking here.
