Southwold’s famous land-locked lighthouse has regular open day when you can see inside the 31m high landmark. The sandy beach, lined with colourful beach huts, is perfect for a picnic, stock up on local produce from a range of excellent independent shops. A stroll along the historic Edwardian pier with its water clock and traditional amusement arcades is a must. Take the ferry across the river Blyth to pretty Walberswick, a popular spot for crabbing.
