Bask beside a crackling wood burner in the autumn and winter and relax out in the courtyard garden in the spring and summer when you stay at this Southwold cottage. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom holiday home also welcomes four-legged friends and comes with the rarity of a parking space. It is just 250 metres from coastal town’s bustling hub, with its selection of eateries and shops, and is 450 metres from the beach.
Let yourselves into the red brick retreat and head straight through to the handy ground-floor bathroom to rinse off the sand and get ready to enjoy your evening. The lovely kitchen/diner, with its part-vaulted ceiling is the perfect place to prepare homecooked meals, pour a glass of wine and sit down to tasty food and great conversation. Afterwards, wander through to the lounge to find a film to watch together, listen to music or plan the following day’s adventures. Light the wood burner in here during the colder months to warm yourselves after bracing autumn and winter coastal walks. At the end of each fabulous day, climb the stairs up to the first floor to treat yourselves to a good night’s sleep in either the king-size bedroom, which has an en-suite WC, or the twin. Sit out in the courtyard garden with a cup of coffee in the mornings or a glass of wine in the evenings, enjoying the sea air and sunshine. There is parking for one car.
Stroll 500 metres down to the pier to visit the lively under-the-pier show, with its unusual, interactive machines, and to see the water clock. Treat the children to a turn around the boating lake while you are here too. See the lighthouse, have a brewery tour and walk 1 mile down to the harbour to go crabbing.
