While staying in the heart of the Suffolk seaside town of Southold you’ll be surrounded by cosy cafes, seafood restaurants and historic landmarks – such as the lighthouse, cannons and pier (within 0.5 miles). Stroll to the beach (less than 200 metres) for a dip in the sea with Fido – canine companions are allowed in off-peak season. If you’re visiting in summer head to Denes Beach (0.5 miles) which has no restrictions. Cross the river to find the small village of Walberswick (1.5 miles) where you can stop at the tea room before enjoying a stroll along the Suffolk Coast National Nature Reserve (3 miles) through the Dunwich River Bridge hiking area. In the opposite direction is Benacre National Nature Reserve (5.5 miles) where you can enjoy some bird watching among the lagoons and waterfront wildland.
