This Southwold holiday home has been lovingly restored and updated to offer excellent self catering holiday accommodation. Montague House has four bedrooms accommodating seven guests and offers flexible accommodation. The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances and the cosy sitting room has two comfortable sofas, a lovely place to relax after a busy day on beach with the kids. It’s here in this traditional brick built property that Orwell himself lived from time to time and, notably in 1935 when he wrote 'A Clergyman's Daughter'. This literary retreat is a fabulous family holiday home on the Suffolk coast, complete with high quality furnishings and awash with home comforts.

Why we love this property… apart from style and location… it has to be the beautiful walled garden - we can’t think better place to kick off your shoes and enjoy a glass of fizz!

Southwold Central - The properties located in central Southwold are all within minutes of the market place, with the elegant Swan Hotel, an excellent range of small shops including a greengrocers with fresh local produce, family butcher and delicatessen. The upper promenade is ideal for a peaceful stroll at any time of the year and provides quick access to the beach and of course, the lighthouse in the town is a good landmark. There is also easy access to the common and a nearby footpath takes you down to the harbour with the foot ferry to Walberswick (summer only). Don't forget that the beach is never very far away!
