In the heart of Southwold, Hiraeth is in the older part of this seaside town on St James's Green and looks out on to traditional fishermen's' cottages, with the Sole Bay Inn and the confectionery shop at 1 St James's Green close by. The cottage has been sympathetically renovated to offer a bright, modern, open plan living/dining/kitchen room downstairs and two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one bathroom on the ground floor and a stylish en-suite shower room off the master bedroom.

... and in case you are wondering about the name of the Cottage, Hiraeth is a Welsh word that has no direct English translation but it encompasses the bond one feels with one's home country when away from it or a spiritual connection to a long forgotten sense of something that is deep in your being, at times triggered by the present, a deja vu moment in time.

Such a lovely warm and welcoming cottage which is spotlessly clean and well equipped. The owners had thought of everything to make our stay special. Perfect location. We have loved our stay and will definitely return to this lovely cottage.
The cottage is in an excellent location and we had a brilliant stay here with our two small children. We loved being so close to the beach, despite the lack of sunny weather! The cottage was very well equipped and had everything we needed.
Hiraeth is a terraced cottage located on a small green steps form the promenade and gun hill sitting under Southwold's famous lighthouse, so location is great. The bathrooms and kitchen are more recent additions and are very nice, spacious and bright. Overall the standard is good and the kitchen is well stocked although a few more plates and cutlery would be useful not having to run the dishwasher all the time. Spacewise its quite compact, especially upstairs so not sure how it would be with small children or staying for longer than a week end.
