Lowestoft, situated at the most easterly point in the British Isles, was developed in the mid 1800's into a fashionable Victorian seaside resort by Sir Morton Peto, the entrepreneur and civil engineer who built Nelson's Column and the Houses of Parliament. Gullsway is located to the North of Lowestoft with sea views whilst no beach however the South of this town, only a mile and a half way has two piers located on the south beach. This beach is a lifeguarded beach. The southerly pier, called Claremont Pier, originally served as a port of call for steamers traveling to and from London. It now provides a music venue, amusement arcade, roller-disco, fish and chip cafe and a separate, contemporary fresh fish and seafood restaurant and bar. There is a second beach situated at the bottom of Links Road nearby which is sandy and swimmable however not manned by a lifeguard. There are many places of interest in the area including Pleasurewood Hills theme park to the north of the town, the East Anglia Transport Museum, Africa Alive, Oulton Broad, Belle Vue Park and Nicholas Everett Park with its pet corner. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has a residency at the Marina Theatre in town. There are three blue flag beaches, several good pubs and restaurants, ten-pin bowling, indoor swimming-pool and sports complex, riding school, cinema, theatre and an annual festival. The Norfolk broads and the pretty towns of Beccles and Southwold are less than 30 minutes away by car, as is the excitement of Great Yarmouth's pleasure beach and unique hippodrome theatre.

We had a lovely holiday thank you. The accommodation was comfortable and clean, with every amenity you could wish for. We had three generations in our family ( including our 85 year old mum) and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the good weather was a bonus.
