Lowestoft, situated at the most easterly point in the British Isles, was developed in the mid 1800's into a fashionable Victorian seaside resort by Sir Morton Peto, the entrepreneur and civil engineer who built Nelson's Column and the Houses of Parliament. Wellington Esplanade was a centrepiece of Peto's development of Lowestoft. The town has two piers located on the south beach. The southerly pier, called Claremont Pier, originally served as a port of call for steamers traveling to and from London. It now provides a music venue, amusement arcade, roller-disco, fish and chip caf? and a separate, contemporary fresh fish and seafood restaurant and bar. There are many places of interest in the area including Pleasurewood Hills theme park to the north of the town, the East Anglia Transport Museum, Africa Alive, Oulton Broad, Belle Vue Park and Nicholas Everett Park with its pet corner. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has a residency at the Marina Theatre in town. There are three blue flag beaches, several good pubs and restaurants, ten-pin bowling, indoor swimming-pool and sports complex, riding school, cinema, theatre and an annual festival. The Norfolk broads and the pretty towns of Beccles and Southwold are less than 30 minutes away by car, as is the excitement of Great Yarmouth's pleasure beach and unique hippodrome theatre.

Location is everything. 4 Wellington Esplanade is ideally located for a beach holiday. Whether you want to be swimming in the sea and building sandcastles, promenading or sitting in a comfy seat looking out towards the sea, this property is for you. It was more like a boutique hotel than a holiday home. I would describe the property, which is over four floors, as opulent. It was also quieter than expected. Although there's a road outside, it's a single road and doesn't seem to be very busy. We were aged 84 to 7 and all enjoyed our stay. The couple staying in very top floor double bed did say bed wasn't comfy; soft & lumpy. Also door keys were difficult to use for some members of the family, maybe they needed oiling or adjusting? Having said that, it is our most favourite holiday home and plan to return. Thank you. Oh, and the 'welcome' basket was very generous and much appreciated. Many thanks. Leslee Highly recommend this property. If you love a sandy beach and looking out onto a sea-view you will love this property. More like a boutique hotel than a holiday home, I think there was even a chandelier in the smallest room! Definitely one we'll be returning to.Ms Leslee Hopper - 4th September 2017
