Picture yourself sitting by a river in your very own private garden, the BBQ is firing up, the jukebox is playing in the background and the children are off engaging in a match of air hockey. At Butterfield House, you can do just that. Located along The River Waveney and in the picturesque market town of Beccles, this 16th-century property has all one could want from a holiday home. Welcoming eight guests and two dogs if desired, holiday makers can enjoy three floors of characteristic luxury. Exposed beams and brick walls run through the property, creating an authentic grade II listed feel.
At the uppermost point of the holiday home, guests will find two loft rooms, both with double beds and impressive beams. On the second floor, a further two bedrooms can be found, both with king sized beds, large windows and pretty beams. The master bedroom has the added bonus of an en-suite shower room and an original feature fireplace. If you really want to relax, why not light some candles, draw yourself a bubble bath and enjoy a soak whilst watching a bit television at the same time with the bathrooms very own television. The family sized bathroom also has under floor heating and a hand held shower.
Descend down the spiral staircase and guests will find the ground floor. Here, in the centre of the house is the grand dining room. A large inglenook fireplace is the room’s most impressive feature, and peers over the fitting dining table and chairs topped off with a chandelier dangling above. Again, original beams flow through the room. A few steps down from the dining room is Butterfield’s impressive sitting room. Wooden panelled walls create a medieval feel and comfortable furnishings offer an ideal place to rest. Butterfield’s kitchen is large and full of all the amenities needed for a self-catering holiday. A Rangemaster cooker gives the option of cooking up a storm inside should guests decide to not use the BBQ. Continue down a set of stairs and guests will find one of Butterfield’s best assets, the cinema room. A large cinema screen and surround sound speakers mean guests can immerse themselves in filmography whilst resting on occasional furnishings. A Netflix subscription included means that guests will have films, television series and documentaries right at their fingertips.
As we move to Butterfield’s outdoor spaces, guests will discover a wonderful area where we’re sure they’ll end up spending most of their time. At the bottom of the garden is the summer house style games room which includes darts, table football and air hockey will provide hours of entertainment along with a table tennis table found outside on the courtyard. A raised, sheltered decking is home to a juke box and outdoor furniture, perfect for BBQs. Guests won’t have the worry of running back to the house for drink top ups or extra nibbles, as the garden has an outdoor kitchen complete with cupboards, microwave, fridge and bar stools. We can’t forget that all of this amazing outdoor space is of course by the river. Whilst guests enjoy evenings spent outside, enjoying each other’s company, boats will drift past on the river Waveney. Shop: 50 yards Pub: 50 yards.

Living by water exudes tranquillity, and we believe after time spent at Butterfield, guests will return back to their normal lives with a sense of zen.

Beccles is a popular holiday destination situated on the Norfolk Broads, on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. Beccles is an extremely attractive medieval market town situated by the river Waveney, which runs along the town boundary. The town offers excellent exploration to the Norfolk Broads and has some of the most beautiful stretches of the river within the Norfolk Broads National Park. Amongst various boating activities, there are also riverside walks, outdoor swimming pool, golf course and many attractive surrounding villages. Beccles town has a complex of good town pubs and excellent restaurants, surrounded by quaint shops offering a variety of gifts and produce. Beccles is an ideal base to explore the sandy beaches, woodlands and parks of Norfolk and Suffolk. There is also has a train station and bus depot.
