Museum of East Anglian Life

Over 80 acres of countryside in the heart of Stowmarket is occupied by the Museum of East Anglian Life, one of the largest museums in Suffolk. The land was originally part of a medieval estate and in the 1950s and ‘60s, individual collectors worked together to collect, preserve and display objects from rural East Anglia to avoid losing the established skills, equipment and buildings. The museum opened in 1967 and welcomes visitors to their exhibitions, family area, tours, trails and Abbot’s Hall.
